About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see as much of the world as I can in the time that I have.

ABOUT ME

I'm currently living and working in Busan, South Korea. Before that I was living in Muncie, Indiana.

I hope to return to Muncie to pursue a Master's degree in Linguistics and TESOL. After that, I want to immerse myself in all of the most interesting cultures in the world by living and teaching in the UAE, Italy, Spain, Greece, France, Czech Republic, Ukraine, India, Indonesia, the Philippines and many many more...

And if I can't find work in those countries, hopefully I'll be able to surf through some of them for at least a taste of each culture =)

PHILOSOPHY

This is hard to encapsulate without scaring people away, but I love Jesus and his philosophies and teachings. I try to live my life with those things in mind and fight tooth and nail to avoid the stigma that comes with the title "Christian".

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't surfed any couches yet, but I have an extra bed in an amazing city, so I would love to host and perhaps surf in the future.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have now hosted around a dozen or so surfers and have had amazing experiences with all of them! I will continue to host for as long as I can, but I have a feeling that after I move to Middle-of-Nowhere Muncie, I will have a lot fewer requests :D

I will almost always say yes to any request I get because it is so much fun! Barring the inevitable, occasional conflict, I will likely say yes, so always ask! <3

Interests

love all kinds of music, reading, going to the beach, singing karaoke, tattoos and piercings, scarves from around the world, tea and COFFEE [i'm an absolute coffee snob. the only thing i am dying without here in korea], baking the best cookies and scones in the WORLD [which i can't do here due to lack of oven]

Music, Movies, and Books

movies i could watch over and over: dumb and dumber, mean girls, kill bill [vol. 1 and 2], dirty dancing and the darjeeling limited.

music is so widespread and varied for me. i'm a female vocalist, so i love listening to females with good vocals: alicia keys, 1990s mariah carey, regina spektor, amy winehouse, whitney houston and a few others. but i also love listening to male singer/songwriters like jason mraz, marc broussard, john mayer [not the pop stuff, but the blues stuff like his album Try!], damien rice, ray lamontagne, citizen cope and other chill stuff. but sometimes i like bands like maroon 5 and brand new and taking back sunday and MGMT and chromeo. i have a sort of guilty pleasure for pop, R&B, and Rap. and of course, like any music lover, i adore louis armstrong, billie holliday, frank sinatra and all other sorts of jazz.

this is just the beginning of my music. i love just about everything.

books...i like reading. but i don't think i've actually read anything that earth shattering, but i enjoy chuck palahniuk novels and i really liked the kite runner.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For me, getting out of the midwest and moving to Korea is the most amazing thing I've ever done. it has taught me so much about myself...who I am, and just as important, who I am not. Seeing yourself outside of your comfort zone and your friends, family and otherwise normal scenery really brings out your true colors. At least, that has been my experience.

I wish I could say that I have seen the seven wonders, helped refugees and dug a well in africa, but i haven't...yet. Coming to Korea has gotten me a few steps closer, though. Now I know, I want to spend the rest of my life traveling, seeing and doing the most amazing things.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to make a paper crane.
I can teach you how to give an amazing back/neck/head massage.
I can teach you how to knit a scarf.
I can teach you very basic korean.

and [most importantly]
I can tell you how, step by step, to make the world's most amazing chocolate chip cookies.
