Trying to settle into an amazing new city, where I can fully express myself and creatively interact with my commmunity.

ABOUT ME

We are a dynamic duo, the notorious hax + ixnee - partners in many ways - a dj team, husband and wife, and best friends. We have been known to provide hours of entertainment for friends, family, and community, whether it's rocking out behind the decks, being our goofy selves, or providing Stimulating Intellectual Conversation(tm). Oh and we don't take ourselves too seriously, in case you were wondering!

After months of careful planning to move to Portland, OR, we decided on San Francisco instead (well actually, SF decided on us).

We're always up for fun experiences, love to learn and explore "this island earth" and interact with friends we've yet to meet, and we appreciate life to the fullest.

PHILOSOPHY

To live life authentically, and deliberately, while making ourselves and the people around us happy. We try to stay healthy so we will be able to enjoy a long and beautiful life together, and it is natural for us to support our friends as they also deal with the challenges of existing in a confusing and overwhelming universe.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Though we just recently became a part of the official CouchSurfing Network, we've been gracious hosts to friends and travelers for years, opening up our homes for a night, a few days, or months at a time.

Our goal is to be able to continue to provide comfortable and pleasant accommodations once we have settled into our new city.

Interests

Many, many, many!

We can't even formulate, in any sort of entirety, the sheer ludicrosity of the amount of things that pique our interest. However, things that nearly universally hit the mark are:

- Music : Not only the electronic dance music that we play at events, but a broad swathe of musical artistic expression from jazz and classical to the most inaccessible forms of experimental performance.

- Movies : If one can get past the near morbid fascination with the genres of Science / Speculative Fiction, Samurai Movies and Irreverant Comedy (and more specifically the works of Wim Wenders, Ridley Scott, Akira Kurosawa, Richard Linklater, Kevin Smith, Luc Besson, Takashi Miike..and and and...) anything new, engaging and interesting without falling victim to the usually inevitable predictability.

To be honest, any type of creative expression, whether it be visual art, dance, music, performace, literature, is a joy to experience.

We spend a lot of time at outdoor festivals, dance parties, and art shows... often all at once if we're lucky. The epitome of this type of event is Burning Man, which we actually spent 3 weeks of our lives at this year (one week pre-event and one week post-event, working) in order to help create Black Rock City and then tear it down.

Bowen has many years of professional music production, both on the stage and off, under his belt. He has a penchant for photography, building musical instruments, and speculating upon the problems and solutions brought about by the rapid advancement of technology.

Lisa is an accomplished healer, practicing massage therapy as well as craniosacral therapy and energy work. This is more than just an occupation... she considers it a calling, and practices it with great care and respect. She also loves to dance, and she has been playing the violin since she was 6 years old. She is excited to play the electronic violin that Bowen is hoping to make for her soon.

We also enjoy preparing delicious meals, with the freshest organic ingredients, and sharing them with our friends.
