About Me

ABOUT ME

I’m 30 years old, I was born in Warsaw and I graduated in architecture at Warsaw University of Technology. I enjoy wandering around abandoned buildings in Warsaw and taking pictures of them. Right now I’m designing interiors, and my dream is to buy a neglected real estate and to restore it.
In my spare time I enjoy travelling “with my finger on the map” and reading books. I love being on the move, either travelling by car, yacht or on foot. I live in Warsaw where I move around by bike.
In April 2012 I had my first backpacking journey, together with my friend we went to Indochina and in a 6-week trip we visited Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia – 7000km, 175 hours on the move/travelling. During that trip I was the one responsible for maps, costs and distances.

PHILOSOPHY

If you don’t taste failure you won’t succeed.
Greet every single day with a smile.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven’t had any couchsurfing experience yet, however, lots of people from Poland, who have their profiles, recommended me that site. I’m not only interested in being hosted, but also in helping tourists in Warsaw with sightseeing and while my travelling getting to know new people.

Interests

Since my childhood I’m closely connected with water – I used to practice synchronic swimming, I am a lifeguard and now I sail and scuba dive. I think that those disciplines of sport complement each other perfectly, the first one gives you feeling of freedom, the second one peacefulness but both of them teach you respect toward water. Both these sports include the navigation skill which I learn willingly.

In winter time I enjoy skiing. I am also a fan ski touring because it gives me a chance to visit tops of the mountains which are not spoilt by the presence of human and once you get there you can walk on lovely snow. Mountains give me lots of pleasure in spring and autumn time when it is too cold for sleeping in a tent and you have to spend nights in cosy youth houses.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a strange tendency. when it comes to film or songs titles, names of actors and singers - I can’t remember them. I’m much better at remembering things when it comes to books.

While working I need to listen to music without lyrics, something relaxing and calm. I think that “The Thievery Corporation” would be a great example of that kind of music. I also listen to reggae, or ”The Cranberries” but it all depends on my mood. I’m also deeply moved by African rhythms.

The films that I believe are the best are „Million Dollar Baby and “Hotel Marigold”, I’m not keen on horrors and thrillers.

I like that kind of books which teach me something about different countries, customs and traditions. I love reading Wilbur Smith’s books which tell about Africa. I also enjoyed reading “Katedra w Barcelonie” and “Ręka Fatimy” by Ildefonso Falcones. Both of these books included history of medieval Spain and adventures of main characters what caused that I really loved them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2012 my dream of crossing the Atlantic Ocean sailing came true. By accident I happened to be on board of STS Fryderyk Chopin as a German teacher of Blue School. Sailing part of that event was much more interesting for me that the educational one. I’ve already sailed on Fryderyk Chopin in 2007, but a two-month-stay and a 15-day-traverse were an unforgettable experience. Chopin is a sailing vessel and its highest yard – the sky sail – is 40 meters above the ship. Slow climbing to that yard was a great experience, however, to do that I had to cross my limits and fight with fear.
