About Me

"Love, Peace & Adventure!" -Izzie

Hello! My name is Maria, but you can call me Izzie, I was born in Concepcion, Tarlac Philippines. Grew up in Baguio and raised in Southern California.

I have lived in Southern California for over 25 years, before moving to North Dakota where I worked as a property manager during the decline of the "Oil Boom." This was my first time living so far away from my family & close friends, but I was able to experience a totally different "culture" and live in a totally different "world," then that of which I was use to. Although I was able to meet some amazing people, after living in the cold for almost a year, I decided I prefer the heat and I wanted to travel somewhere warm. So I left North Dakota in May 2016, and started to travel.

I was only planning to travel for 6 months, however, I found myself in Puerto Rico and have been here since. During that time, I have been assisting a friend set up his 3-bedroom family home for Airbnb, spear-heading not only their Airbnb listings but setting up their home, taking photos and creating all social media and maintaining it. I was able to establish Superhost status for him in the first few months of going live. The listings are as follows: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/16017625 (Double)
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/16070020 (Single)

Since going live in November 2016, his listing has become very successful, however, I have yet to continue my travels.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to see the world and I want to meet everyone in it! I want to experience new cultures and lifestyles and I want to learn new skills... maybe even teach some of my skills to those I meet along the way.

I just want to have a completely adventurous, passionate, weird life.

Interests

Aside from traveling and meeting new people I love the outdoors - hiking, exploring, taking photos and I am curious about art, music and different cultures. Also, I love food - trying new foods and cooking!

Music, Movies, and Books

I always seem to find a difficult time answering what my “favorite” music, movies & books are. It’s like asking me what my favorite foods are, I think it depends on my mood, the situation, my surroundings. I love Reggae, R&B and Hip-Hop but in my travels, I have also learned to love a lot of other music. I don’t have a “favorite.”

I do, however, favor those gangster films when it comes to movies, like Scarface, Godfather, HEAT, Good Fellas and Boondock Saints. I love Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta, Joe Pecci, etc.

As for books, I love Edgar Alan Poe.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Everyday is amazing! However, selling all my things and moving from California to North Dakota with just two suitcases was pretty amazing.

Hiking a volcano in the Philippines, Mt. Pinatubo, was pretty amazing too!

Teach, Learn, Share

TEACH me anything you are skilled in, I would love to LEARN anything someone is willing to take take to SHARE with me! I will do the same.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have great organizational skills, writing skills and am an amateur photographer!
Also, being in such a large family has enabled me to learn how to cook, clean and a little gardening (a skill I am willing to learn more of).
