Overview
About Me
Hey, I’m Izzy — I study anthropology and sociology, ride my bike, watch movies, and do social work. I am from Perth, but have also lived in Canada and the UK and have been fortunate to see many parts of the world. I love meeting new places and new people!
I currently help out with a mutual aid community kitchen in Perth, cooking and providing meals to the food insecure across our city. If you are in town and would like to come to a cook up and have a meal, reach out!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Connecting with other human beings is powerful, I appreciate the outside perspective. I'm fascinated with sharing economies and really into the community I've encountered so far on couchsurfing.
I've surfed/hosted/carpooled/hitched rides/ given rides/house sat around Europe, South America, Canada and the USA.
Interests
As I meet and talk with more people, I'm discovering so many cool things about how we choose to live and design our lives.
Equal parts homebody and nomad, I'm just as happy staying in and napping with a cat on my lap, as I am being outdoors in all the elements.
I enjoy surrounding myself with thoughtful and interesting people.
I’m very interested in language learning, and am currently learning Arabic.

Music, Movies, and Books
Always down to swap films, books, music!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
All contenders for #1 amazing thing, no particular order:
Dropped everything to tour national parks across the US with fellow couch surfer and friend Julian!
Travelled to Patagonia and hitchhiked to Bolivia with my dear friend Helen!
Worked and played in Vancouver BC!
Dreamed up and operated a breakfast taco food truck in my home town!
Teach, Learn, Share
Conversation, food and animals are three areas that I feel apply here.
At home I eat mostly vegetarian but am more flexible about this when travelling.
I love talking with and listening to people. My current role in youth and disability support means I get to do this everyday - figuring out how to connect and communicate with others. I've been learning how to sign, so could teach you some Auslan.
Also if you have any pets, I'm cool with being their bff while I'm in town.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Thoughtful conversations, I can teach you some English or basic Auslan (Australian sign language), I love to cook and share food. Let’s sit down and have a yarn.
