About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Balance. Mixing travel with school and eventually a career. One part family, one part friends, two parts nature/active lifestyles with a dash of flavor and zest.

ABOUT ME

I like life and I'm amused by the small things. When I travel I like watching people in markets, anything that brings me into close contact with 'real locals'... know what I mean?
At home I'm best when outdoors. Mountains are ideal but anywhere by a river or fire pit or forest is dandy.
I'm a total nerd and like politics too!

PHILOSOPHY

Opportunities develop your character and lead you to your destiny.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I try to volunteer in whatever community I feel connected to. In University I was really active in campus life. When abroad I would help out my colleagues and local community. Now I'm in transition and searching for my next community

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have a few friends who couch surf, and I've hosted other friends who couch surf. But we call it 'crashing on your couch'.
I like people who are laid back and take care of themselves. But that's because when I crash at someone's place, I respect their space. Do unto others as you would have done unto you.

Interests

Outdoors- hiking, snowboarding, biking, backcountry explorations
Culture- live shows, arts, gallery visits, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

After a two day backcountry ski in, I arrived at the Stanley Mitchell Hut in Yoho National Park! It was 2 hours past sunset, and 10 hours since I had started that morning. At times I thought I saw lights through the trees, but instead they were just a mirage. When I finally stepped through the wood frame that has stood since 1940, the wood stove greeted me and friends were quick with a spot of tea. I had made it and 'it' is beautiful!

Boxing day in 2009 was magical. I explored an abandoned wadi with pools to swim in. We then made our way to a natural hot spring on the edge of the dead sea, where salt crystals reach up from the floor. To top it off, we camped alongside a reed maze, which collects fresh water ideal for bathing post-dead sea and hot spring swim. How this is reality, and how this reality can exist in one day, still astonishes me.

Countries I’ve Visited
