About Me
Hi there,
I am a 25 (about to be 26!) year old trainee lawyer originally based in London.
I grew up in Indonesia and then went on to live in Singapore when I was 15 for 4 years before moving to the UK for my university degree and that's where I have been ever since. I am however currently based in New York due to work and will be here until March 2017.
It's this particular background of having lived in quite a few places (and traveled quite a bit because of that as well) that makes me a keen and avid traveler. I believe traveling is one of those things that really can enrich you beyond anything else that you can experience.
Aside from that I am a very keen cook, avid movie goer, museum goer, book reader and performing arts watcher.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am interested in meeting friends from all over the world and understanding the culture of a place rather than just seeing it as a tourist. And of course hopefully I will be able to contribute to whomever I meet in however way I can.
Interests
Learning new things is one of my passion and therefore I love going to museums to just learn about different civilizations and cultures. I also am very interested in art and art history which goes hand in hand with my interest in understanding other cultures as well.
I love traveling and am very passionate about getting the most out of my experiences when traveling. This means experiencing the main important sites, and also the food, culture, music and of course people of that place.
I love reading and try to read a book whenever I have free time. I also love movies and performing arts.
I am also rather obsessed with food. I cook a lot at home which was at first because I miss Indonesian food when I was living in the UK and I found a way to sort of reconnect by being able to cook Indonesian Food. This grew into an interest and passion for different types of food, whether it is by cooking them or eating!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I like classical music, Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky are some of my favorite composers. I am also a sucker for Verdi's operas. That said, I am a fan of Florence and the Machine, Adele, Lana Del Rey, Pink Martini, ABBA and Christine and the Queens.
Movies: Under the Skin, Silence of the Lambs, Gone Girl, Tampopo, Hausu, Pan's Labyrinth, REC, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Green Mile and many more.
Books: Some of my favorite authors are; Haruki Murakami, Margaret Attwood, Ali Smith, Ian McEwan, Stephen King, Alan Moore and Neil Gaiman.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One amazing thing is very difficult to choose!
My top would be when I managed to go to Turkey even after being told in the airport that I could not board the plane I had originally booked due to visa restrictions as there is a broken layover in Germany. My friend and I sourced out another flight then and there, and finally arrived in Turkey that same day. We ended up having the most amazing time in Turkey.
Some other highlights:
Watching the early sun bathe the Acropolis in Athens in orange and honey colours.
Swam from a boat to a hot spring in Santorini.
