ABOUT ME

I like to stay busy. When I'm not around other people or working on something, I get stir-crazy. I've lived in the same place basically my whole life. I love my home and the friends I've made here and am usually happiest around them. Having said that, I'm taking this year off for travel. The travel itself is a great experience, but so is the feeling of coming home after being away for a while.

PHILOSOPHY

I suppose I'm still trying to figure that out. In the meantime, I really like the quote "everything in moderation including moderation itself." Also, I think it's important to be able to agree to disagree.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't hosted anyone yet, but look forward to doing so. I spent a couple months backpacking around California and had some good surfing experiences there. More to come soon.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The people I've met through couchsurfing are some of the most interesting. Whether from my own town or people I've stayed with, the couchsurfing community always seems full of generosity and enthusiasm.

Interests

I love almost any kind of physical activity. I ride my bike everywhere, enjoy hiking and backpacking, playing sports and excercising. I also am involved with various arts. I write as much as possible and spend a good deal of time making pottery. But the most important thing to me is spending time with my friends and meeting new people.

Favorite music includes Pearl Jam, Regina Spektor, Ben Folds, Coldplay, Elton John, Missy Higgins, Elbow, Led Zeppelin, Fleet Foxes...

Books: The Long Walk, Gang of One, The Road, The Omnivore's Dilemma, Memoirs of a Geisha, 1984

Movies: The Departed, City of God, No Country for Old Men, Fight Club, and I love "The Office," even though it's not a movie

Teach, Learn, Share

Having lived in the same place for so long, I know a lot about it. It's an amazing area for hiking and outdoor activity. But the best places to explore here are often the least known. So I guess I'd make a great local tour guide.
