About Me

Abstract artist, future librarian, speculative fiction reader and writer

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I recently finished a master's in library science with the goal of becoming an academic librarian, but it's an especially awful time to be getting into higher ed, and the hiring process can be long in public libraries too.

While I'm applying and interviewing for positions, I'll be traveling around live painting at concerts and selling prints and original abstract arts, probably some gems and minerals as well. I won't be able to travel like this once I get hired somewhere, and it's a great chance to visit family, reconnect with old friends, and make new ones along the way. I've got accommodations for most of my stops along the trip, but will sometimes need to rely on the kindness of others. I've let a number of strangers stay at my places temporarily over the years, so I'm very aware of how to be a good house guest and the importance of being conscientious towards your host. I'm also on here because I plan to continue paying it forward once I have my own place again.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: almost everything, from hip hop and lo-fi beats to outlaw country with ska punk and pop in between.

Books: almost everything, but probably like 80% speculative fiction of all types by volume

Movies: don't watch as many as I'd like, but enjoy most genres

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visiting Tibet in 2007 was pretty amazing

Teach, Learn, Share

willing to teach anything I know that you'd like to learn, thrilled to learn anything you're willing to teach, and happy to share whatever I can

What I Can Share with Hosts

Respect, the possibility of delightful banter if so desired, a willingness to do chores or help out wherever requested, a decent discount on art prints, original paintings, and maybe gem and minerals if applicable, a few fun card games that can be played or to be left alone to whatever extent they desire.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, China, Mexico

Countries I’ve Lived In
