About Me

I'm an artist and a humanbeing. Currently I'm focusing a lot on self growth and not occupied by a staedy job. I write and think a lot. Heal myself and progress :- )

I've met and talked with all kinds of people and I think there's always something we can learn from eachother. Nobody is "dumb" or "unintresting" if you concider yourself like that, I'd kindly like to change you opinion. I already think you are awesome, vice and beautiful!

Please, come as you are. Relax. You don't need to read through anything in order to ask for a stay, nor do I require you to spend time with me. It's all about how our chemistries match and what we feel like doing. You are wellcome! <3

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think many aspects of CS could and should be done differently (verification, limited requests, references, praises). I can relate to some parts of this article: https://bit.ly/2JhrPl7

For the last couple of summers I have hitchhiked quite a lot in Europe and every time I did it I felt like I got a huge load of of wisdom and life experience. I liked it a LOT in general! Hitchhiking and living like a nomad is something I feel like I have the urge and ability to do, but for now I've always been drawn back home in the end. Maybe some day something snaps in my head and I'll go full time backpacker :- D Only time shows.

I think meeting and greeting people from various backgrounds gives you really good perspective on life and is an effective way for us to understand and develop ourselfs. To collide our world views with as many people as possible and gain knowledge to form our own thoughts, values and personality. Or just share stories and experiences and hang out. You know, the usual.

But most importantly I think it'd be cool if we could always stay indoors wherever we go and there would be a common consensus of hospitality and trust among all people on the planet. Providing a roof over one's head for free is a small but precious act of unconditional caring.

Interests

I will perhaps fill this more later :- )

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was really hungry once, but chose to give my only food to some beggar, and was then rewarded with 5 apples by the Universe. That moment I started crying an laughing for half a minute. Perhaps the most intense experience of my life so far!

PLACES TO SEE IN HELSINKI

City:

-Sompasauna. A public free sauna in a bohemian enviroment. Located in Kalasatama in nort west harbour. west from my home. Open 24/7

-Linnunlaulu. Nice part of the city. Old, big wooden houses. Close to the railway tracks between Central Railway Station and Pasila. Around the small Töölönlahti bay.

-Temppelinaukio Church. An underground church located in the northern end of Fredrikinkatu.

-Oodi library. A moder building. You can use free internet amongst other cool stuff like 3D printers. Check their website for more deeds. Close to the central railwaystation.

-Loiste. A bar/restaurant in the top of the shopping centre Sokos. You can go up there just to see the view if nothing else. Right next to central railwaystation.

-Torni. A high tower with a cafeteria on top. You can see the city from up there. Atleast go take a look! I recommend.

-Kruunuhaka. Nice part of the city with beautiful architecture. Located behind Tuomiokirkko.

-Tuomiokirkko. Nice big white church. Google Tuomiokirkko opening hours if you want to see inside.

-Kauppatori. You can try some fried needle fish there during the day time but not for very late. Located in eastern harbour.

-Suomenlinna island. The ferry leaves fom Kauppatori harbour. Works with the hsl tickets app described in the "Transportation" section in "My home". Buy a ticket for area AB.

-Rikhardinkatu library. An old one. A huge database. You can most likely find some stuff in your own language there. Close to Esplanadi park.

-Punavuori. Nice part of the city southwest from Central Railway Station. You'll find some intresting shops in Fredrikinkatu. Just to walk around and see them might be intresting for you.

-Eira. Nice neighbourhood located very south of the city. My childhood was here ;__; Can you inagine? We used to play in the park with the statue of a bambi every day ater school.

-Kaivopuisto. Some say that the top of this park grants the nicest view in Helsinki.

-Kompassitori. Nice square in the southern harbour. Buy some eskimo vanilja puikko from the nearest ice cream stand.

Nature:

-Hietaniemi beach. Located west of the city. Besides the beach there is some nature there.

-Esplanadi. Near kauppatori. Check the Manta statue (naked lady on top of a fountain, you can't miss it).

-Tähtitorninmäki. South from the Kauppatori.

-Kaivopuisto. Near the southern harbour. Climb to the top and see the sights.

Bars:

Btw, the shops don't sell alcohol after 21:00 so after that you need to go to a bar.

-Saba (Hämeentie 7). Across my house is a grazy beer deal in this indian pizzeria if you/we really want to get some booze and the shops are already closed. One litre with 5€ !!!!!

-Helsing Bar (Kaarlenkatu 3-5). I heard the beer there is like 2,5€ but maybe it's a small one.

-Virkavapaa (Kaarlenkatu 10). Same street with Helsing Bar, but more north and on the left.

Flemari 13 (Fleminginkatu 13) This is a LEGENDARY place. Dunno why, just is. A beer is around 3€

-Stindepinde (Vaasankatu 18). I heard it's also cheap. Go more north from Helsing bar, crossing the street Helsingin katu and a bit further. 3,6€?

-Vivian's bar and kitchen (Kustaankatu 4). It's close to my place and cheap. The part of city where I live is in heneral known of its cheap bars. Half a litre is 4,2€

-Heinähattu (Vaasankatu 23). Same street woth Stindepinde. Just a bit pricier but still cheap by Finnish standards. Nice, small music bar.

-Brewdog Viiskulma (Tarkk'ampujankatu 15). Your go one fancy beer place. Not super expensive actually, if you only buy small tasters. You can select the amount.

-Punavuoren Ahven (Punavuorenkatu 12). If you fancy high quality (and pricy) beers this is for you.

Clubs:

I'm not a club person myself, but I guess Baarikärpänen is ok. (Pohjoinen Rautatienkatu 21) A big place.

Food:

-The S-chain grocery stores (S-marketti and Alepa). They have a special offer on foods that have a 30% off discount sticker to them. From 21:00 to 00:00 they will be 60% off! There is one big S-market near our place in Hakaniemi where you can find some good stuff after 9pm. Usually the fresh pastries are also 60% off but this specific S-market ympyrätalo is a 24/7 so they bake non stop and don't have that deal.

-Lild. We have a Lid across the street. # blessed. They have usually good prices.

-Dumpster diving 1: Alepa in Viiskulma. You have to be there around 06:00–23:00 to get through the gate. Then in the backyard look for the hole in the side of the shelter. There is a platform for foot to climb down inside there. 0€

-Dumpster diving 2: Alepa in Perämiehenkatu. Just go around, through the gate and the trash bins are in the middle on a platform. You can't miss it. 0€

-If you are a STUDENT, you can probably get student priced food on campuses. You can search Opiskelijalounas on google maps or dow

-Barbarosa in Kamppi. Very cheap pizza and kebab. 5€ (Also upstairs there is a place where you can get pita falafel with 3€)

-Döner Harju in Fleminginkatu. Very good price/quality rating. My favourote is the mint lamb pita. This is not your regular kebab place, I strongly recommend. ~9€

-Eerikin Pippuri in Eerikinkatu. Good kebab. Don't recommend the one in Mannerheimintie. ~9€

-New Bamboo Center in Annankatu. Good and cheap chinese food. Good lunch time offers. ~10€

-Classic Pizza in Stockman mall. There's one in Mannerheimintie aswell that is about the same quality. Best pizza in the world imo (and I've been to Italy 5 times and eaten pizza every time). I recommend to order Alpen Wurster. ~16€

-Putte's (Kalevankatu 6). My go 2 pizza place. They have a good bacon avocado pizza. ~16€

-Seahorse (Kapteeninkatu 11). Finland is not famous of it's food culture, but here you can find some local-ish food. ~18€

-Central (Pietarinkatu 15). Most basic and standard restaurant I'd say. It's really OK. ~18€
.
.
Also these are some finnish foods you can try from any market. To double the fun, I won't tell you what they are spesifically, go find them out! Ask the clerks if needed :- )

Salty: karjalanpiirakka, punainen maito, leipäjuusto, hernekeitto, pettuleipä, sultsiina, kalakukko, jälkiuunipala, mustamakkara

Sweet: salmiakki, mämmi, laskiaispulla mantelimassalla, Runebergin torttu, sima, tippaleipä, glögi, salmiakkijäätelö

You can also see Kauppatori during the midday where they sell some fried needle fish for example. In Hakaniemen halli, Kauppahalli (next to kauppatori) or Hietahden kauppahalli there are some stuff aswell.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A place to sleep, food and a shower with soap and shampoo. Conversations and my time, if we feel like it.

Possibility to wash clothes, but if you want to do it let me know in advance so that I can book the washing machine for you. Washing machine starts with 1€ coin. Actually we have a New arragement in our apartment house now, we'll see what to do. Maybe we'll have to wash by hands : F
