Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Hike the John Muir Trail in California, really learn how to draw
ABOUT ME
I guess I'm more of a quiet person sometimes, but I do enjoy a good conversation. It's just that I'm not really into small talk - I feel that if I have nothing substantial to say about something, I'd rather shut up and just listen. Don't conclude from this that I am not interested in what you said, I'm just taking it in! ;-) On the other hand, I am a very open-minded person in general and if I'm passionate about something, I talk a lot. I am naturally curious, skeptical and like to know/talk about how things really work. Sometimes, I am maybe overthinking things little.
PHILOSOPHY
The flowers grew everywhere around the rocks
and no one had asked them to grow
or me to grow
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I hope to meet interesting people from around the world, hear their stories and see the streets through their eyes.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have only surfed once so far (haven't been traveling a lot), but the experience was entirely positive. I am looking forward to do it again!
Interests
I really like making music and I've been writing my own songs for a while now (only in german, though). If I stay with you at your place, I will definitely sing you a song or two in exchange, if you like. I'm also interested in Photography, Science, Surfing.

Music, Movies, and Books
MOVIES: The Grand Budapest Hotel, Garden State, Fight Club, Howl, Donnie Darko. Also imaginative indie stuff with characters that are a little strange, or movies where you are not really sure what to believe.
MUSIC: Death Cab For Cutie, The Postal Service, Jack's Mannequin, Radical Face, Last Days of April, Tomte, Kettcar, Neil Young. Some electronic stuff. A lot of german indie singer/songwriters.
BOOKS: Chuck Palahniuk, Max Frisch, Jack Kerouac, Hermann Hesse, Paul Auster. I don't read that much, but if I do I mostly read classics, because I figure more often than not they must have something that made them classics. This is often mistaken for an attempt to look smart, but I really just want a book to be worth my time because I'm a slow reader.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I saw a river dolphin ("Boto Tucuxi") poke its back out of the water two paddle lengths in front of me when kajaking in a lagoon of the Rio Tabajos, Brazil... the sound of it, breathing, was impressive and I will probably not forget that so soon.
Teach, Learn, Share
I just started drawing for the first time since I was a kid and would be happy for any tips how to get better. I can sing and play the guitar, so maybe I could teach you a little bit in exchange.
I'm also an ocean/climate/environment guy, so if you are also interested in some of these things, we'll have something to talk about for sure.
