About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Fulbright English Teaching Fellow in South Korea!
ABOUT ME
I am definitely in a transition period at the moment. One chapter will be ending, while another unknown, exciting chapter is about to begin.
I am currently living in Naju, South Korea, on a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship Fellowship. I live with a host family and teach English at an all boys high school. It's a blast!
After I return stateside, I hope to earn my California teaching credential and teach high school history in Los Angeles. I was inspired by my mom, who is a public school teacher herself. I feel that knowledge is the most important tool one can give in order to truly mold our world into a more benevolent place. But before I settle down into my career, I want to enjoy my youth for a few more years before I enter the classroom!
So, here I am... Bright eyed, bushy-tailed, excited and idealistic. I want to see the world, meet new people, and maybe learn a few things along the way!
PHILOSOPHY
There are 2 quotes that have governed my life during the last 22 years-
"If you think education is expensive, try ignorance."
The acquisition of all forms of knowledge has been and continues to be the guiding force in my life. I hope to expand my understanding of the world by learning through different mediums, including academia, travel, personal relationships, and self reflection.
"The harder I work, the luckier I am."
Motivation, dedication, and reliability are values I hold in high esteem. I strive to be successful in my life. However, I believe that success and financial stability are not the same thing. I push myself to work hard in maintaining healthy relationships with those close to me, I try and improve my well being in all capacities, and look to accomplish goals I have set for myself.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Since I'm always moving, (first from dorm to dorm in college, now to other countries!) I haven't been able to host anybody yet. Hopefully once I get settled with my own place, I'll open my couch to all interested!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have couch surfed one time in Vancouver, Canada. It was a fantastic experience.
However, I have done two home stays in my life so far. During the Fall of 2008, I lived with an Ecuadorian family during my study abroad semester in college.
I am currently living with a host family in Naju, South Korea for a year while I teach English at an all boys high school.
Although I have not couch surfed often, I have definitely lived in other people's homes and know how to follow the rules. I am responsible with house keys and great with kids!
Interests
I am a ::huge:: fan of music- punk is my first love. But I am an avid blues and jazz listener as well.
I am also an active runner. I ran 3 marathons while in high school, and love nothing more than a nice scenic run with good company.
I also enjoy guitar. I have been playing for about 6 years, and focus on acoustic blues. I model my playing after Lightnin' Hopkins, who's my personal hero. I am attempting to learn slide at the moment, and I'd like to dabble in flamenco as well.

Teach, Learn, Share
I believe that education can take on many different forms, and is definitely not limited to the classroom. Everybody can teach, and everybody can learn. I hope to learn from as many different people as I can.
