About Me

After 22 years of school, I have finally achieved my goal of getting a PhD in chemical engineering. Now, after years of planning, I have begun a solo backing trip which will take me through through South America and Asia. I have always been fascinated by the food, music, and languages of other cultures, but I haven't had much opportunity to explore them. I hope my travels will give me the opportunity to better understand the people of the world and enrich me for the rest of my life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing because I don't want my next 10 months of travels to be exclusively in hostels hanging out with other auzzies and Europeans. Nothing against those folks, they are great. I just want more opportunities to connect with people from the places that I am visiting.

Interests

I'm an open person who loves trying new things. New food, new ways to be active, and new drinking games all sound great to me.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a wide range of music including rock, hip hop, electronic and classical music (to name a few). I can play a few instruments and love to nerd out about music theory. Show me something that I have never heard before!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I moved to Seattle from the southeast US I took a three week road trip across the US including New Orelans, Carlsbad Caverns (Google it!), the Grand Canyon, Vegas, LA and San Francisco. It was an incredible trip.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have been cooking all of my life and love to try new foods. I would love to cook with my hosts and so we can share recipes with each other. I grew up in the southeast US learning to cook southern BBQ and learned a lot of vegetarian dishes when I lived in Seattle. It would be amazing to learn some new recipes!

I love ligusitics and I would love to learn new languages! I am happy to teach some English as well.

I am a big fan of yoga and I taught a couple yoga classes to someone who hosted me previously. I'm happy to share my knowledge of yoga if your interested!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer conversation with someone who is genuinely interested in hearing about your culture and experiencing what it's like to live how you live. I'm happy to share my perspective, and I am generally liberal and non-judgmental. I am also a pretty great cook 😁
