About Me

Hey CouchSurfers :)

I'm Jack, 23 from England, and this is just the start of my CouchSurfing journey after it was recommended by a friend.

I'm going to be travelling around Europe (maybe be beyond) on a sort of flavour journey - I'm planning to open my own cafe and cocktail lounge this year, and I want to get inspiration from around the world! There are so many amazing foods and drinks and cultures that I've never been exposed to, and I plan to change that immediately!

My main passions are Sport and Food, in no particular order. I played Rugby from the age of 7 and American Football from the age of 15, but I'm really interested in any sports to be honest.
Cooking meals has always been a big part of my life. Combining new flavours, trying new ingredients and cuisines, the creativity and discovery, the kitchen really is the most important room in the house!

I love meeting new people and hearing their stories - the world is full of amazing people, and I'd love to meet friends who I'll stay in touch with for years to come.

I'm really keen on getting true local experiences with true local people, so I'm looking forward to meeting some of you soon!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've heard from friends that CouchSurfing is a great way to meet local people with local knowledge about their area. To me, this is a much more valuable experience that being a boring normal tourist.

Connecting with people and learning about everyone's unique story is the perfect kind of social networking.

I'm really hoping to be able to make friends with my hosts and discover the food and drink of their region. I am not shy at all and would to meet friends of my hosts too, and hopefully do some cooking together!

If I am also able to learn some of the basics of new languages, that would be perfect too - hopefully I'm still a good student...

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I tend to listen to Hip Hop and RnB, but only if it has a nice relaxed chilled vibe haha. Music that makes you think. A lot of "alternative" hip hop has and incredibly laid back vibe which I find perfect.

Movies: Psychological Thrillers... Memento, Shutter Island, Se7en, Inception, The Butterfly Effect, Fight Club etc etc.

Books: I don't read as much as I should, when I do I like to read about Psychology/Philosophy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once travelled to Kenya on a charity trip to teach in a school. The kids were amazing, so ambitious and hard working as they knew that education was their only route of getting out of their run down homes and tiny villages. The hospitality they showed to us was unbelievable. When you meet people who have so little but are willing to give so much, it was an incredible experience.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my entire self! I hope that I will be able to make good friends with my hosts so they can share my company, as well my thoughts and experiences.

Of course I can try and share some of my cooking and cocktail bartending skills too!
