About Me

I love getting to know people, having deep talks about life, beliefs, how the world works, etc. I mean who doesn't enjoy that to an extent I guess.. Anyway, I'm over here in the US doing some solo roadtripping and really hoping to:

Have some unforgettable experiences
Experience america at eye-level, in a tangible way
Try make sense of what I actually want in life
Enjoy going just going with the flow for a while
Get to know a few cool people along the way and see what life looks like from their perspective.

Or something like that..

Other than that though a huge part of my life is music - I love listening and playing and have had an unfulfilled dream of creating an album for far too long now haha. Working full time as a civil engineer in a small town hasn't lent itself to fulfilling that dream so I'm hoping to meet a few musical types on my journey to connect with and get inspired by - and of course to have a jam!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Long story short, I want to get out of the town I've spent most of my life in and go exploring, see new places, meet new people and see what life could look like.

I'm currently solo road-tripping all throughout the US. I've been on the road more or less since the start of November and have until around the start of Feb before my money runs out and I have to start acting sensible again! In the short-medium term I'd love to actually move over here and work for a while, jobs and visas permitting. It's a bit daunting for me as I've quit work and come over here with no solid plans other than to just go with the flow and enjoy all the new people, places and experiences I encounter along the way. - and to ponder what my next move in life may be. It's pretty exciting though.

For me the value of couchsurfing (other than just money-saving) lies with the opportunity I have of meeting new people and getting some exposure to what life is like beyond what I know from my own limited experience. That's the whole reason I came over here. It's been a good journey so far and I'm looking forward to the people, places and experiences that are still to come..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent about 15 months volunteering with YWAM (youth with a mission) in Kona, Hawaii. That was such a great experience. I made so many amazing friends and had some incredible experiences exploring the big island. Ever since then I've really wanted to get back over to the USA on a more longer-term basis (and actually earning money this time haha). One of the cooler experiences I had while over there was hiking up to the Kilauea crater and staring down at a lava pool right below us - that was incredible.

Teach, Learn, Share

Ahh.. I'm on this kinda crazy journey of conquering fears, reflecting on what my dreams and passions are and how better to explore them, taking leaps of faith and trying to carve out a new path for myself. Somewhere in all of that I'd like to think I've gained a bit of insight to share, but in reality I'm still in the middle of the process.

Perhaps I'll share this: Be courageous.

(and all the other millennials going through the same ordeal say AMEN)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm happy to help out whoever ends up hosting me however I can around the house in order to be useful and not a burden. If you have the time for hanging out I'm definitely up for that too! Otherwise I don't have a lot to share - I mean I could play you a song on the guitar? Not entirely useful I know..
