I am a painter and author, teaching in Scotland (Edinburgh, Isle of Skye) and Europe. I like to engage in discussion and debate on a variety of fields: philosophy, aesthetics, culture theory, art and cinema. I have a passion for literature, especially French and German, and for art in all countries. Painters who inspire me in my work include Kiefer, Klee, Bacon, Arikha, Ernst, Tapies and Barceló.

I am trying to make contacts with people in these countries (in order of importance/preference): Czech Rep., Spain, Italy. I hope to have some new experiences teaching in Prague in the months ahead, so I am looking for potential couches, sofabeds, or simply sleeping bag! and hoping to meet new faces.

I have much experience of touring museums and galleries with my students. My knowledge of art, film, writing etc. is something I impart to visitors and friends alike. I love to share a meal, or a walk in the highlands, or a film in an intimate cinema, or a concert or play in the theatre.
