Hey Couchsurfers!

I'm Jack and I come from a small place called Gillingham in the county of Kent, England.

I'm currently on my first trip as a solo traveller and would therefore love to continue meeting people right until the moment I fly back to the UK.

I have some family that live in Connecticut which is where I will be finishing my trip, however I would love to spend some time on the West Coast before I head East.

I love the States having been previously to New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, North Carolina and Florida, but now it's time to see how Cali does it!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Travel for me is all about meeting new people and learning new things. Why not do it across the dinner table from the comfort of your own home 🙂

I have been travelling for 4 months up to this point and I am determined to see some of the USA before I head home to the UK.

Unfortunately my lemonade budget doesn't quite stretch as far in the States as it has done during the rest of my trip, and so I would be extremely grateful to anyone willing to put me up for a night.

And still, even with my lemonade budget, i'll be sure to get us a few beers for the evening if that's your thing (it certainly is mine!)

Interests

Music is my biggest passion. Listening to new music and experiencing live music are probably my two favourite hobbies!

I also love my sport, and naturally as a Brit I am a huge soccer fan (Tottenham Hotspur are my team in case you were wondering!) I'd love to try and make an NBA Playoff game or go and experience some MLB whilst i'm in the States.

My interests generally are you lovely people! I'm just keen to hang out with someone similarly open minded and see some of the real United States. Be it over a coffee, a beer, a glass of wine, a dinner or a breakfast - which by the way I am happy to cook!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I honestly couldn't narrow it down to genre. If it's got a good beat, i'll be tapping my foot to it!

Movies: I'm more of a season kind of guy, (Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Peaky Blinders, House of Cards, Westworld, Black Mirror and Better Call Saul to name a few) but if I had to put my finger on a film i'd perhaps say American Gangster. Denzel Washington is usually a safe bet!

Books: After only recently becoming the proud owner of a Kindle, my new year's resolution is to read more. I've been reading a lot of self-help books to give me some focus in starting a career when I return home, but i'd love for some fictional recommendations if you would be so kind to share!
I'm currently reading The Tortilla Curtain by T.C. Boyle.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent two days hiking Volcán Acatenango in Guatemala, only for the neighbouring volcano to erupt. Scary, but the most incredible force of nature i've ever witnessed!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Some cockney-rhyming slang (seeing as I live close to London)

Learn: Anything you'd be willing to teach!

Share: Beer, wine, liquor or perhaps a traditional British Fried Breakfast after any of the three previous. I promise you there is no better cure for a hangover!

What I Can Share with Hosts

A British sense of humour / accent, some good manners and hopefully a long-lasting friendship!
