About Me
Hello!
My name is Jack and I'm a 24 year old traveller up for taking on as much as what the world has got to give me! I have spent the past year living in Mexico City, working as a renewable energy engineer in order to brush up on my Spanish skills as well as work on something that I am passionate about, sustainability! Before that I was living in Santiago, Chile, so I've been in Latin America for about 3 years now!
I love food, dancing and music (although I can't say I'm particularly good at playing any instruments) and most of all having a few laughs over a couple of drinks. I'm a clean and respectful person and I understand the boundaries of sharing a living space with other people

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm always interested in exploring new experiences and meeting new people, and I know for sure that the best way to do that is spend some time with the people that actually live in that place!
Having travelled previously moving hostel to hostel, I'm now looking for a richer experience that will allow me to really get to know where I'm passing through.
Interests
Hard to summarise the below in a few paragraphs. Basically if it gets my heart racing, allows me to experience new emotions and somehow at the same time makes me feel more balanced and content on the inside, I'm down for it.

Music, Movies, and Books
Before moving to South America my main music interests were Hip-hop (especially anything from the 90s), Funk, Disco, anything from the 80s (the cheesier the better), Rock, Metal, Afrobeats and Electronic music (House, Garage, Ambient, Dreamtronica). However I've loved the warmth and energy of latin music, as well as Latin America's take on some of the genres above.
I'm a big lover of movies, especially anything from Christopher Nolan, the Coen Brothers, Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorcese, Wes Anderson or David Fincher.
I'm obsessed with books, so I normally travel with far more than I can fit in by bag (and I refuse to buy an eReader!) I really like Russian and French novels from the 1800s and early 1900s, I'm not entirely sure why... plus any book that grapples with some aspect of intrinsic human nature.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hitchhiking North to South Patagonia in December 2017 from Osorno to Punta Arenas via the southernmost city on the planet, Ushuaia. Standing on the open road with no-one around for hundreds of miles was simultaneously thrilling and terrifying. It really bolstered my faith in humanity being able to travel more than 3000km in a couple of weeks relying entirely on the kindness of strangers stopping to pick me up.
