About Me

ABOUT ME

You and I will get on just fine if you don’t take a word of what I say seriously! My name’s Jack, and I’m a trainee social worker. I try and have
as much fun as possible and try as many new things, with as many different people as possible. I also love the culture and history of this city, and enjoy guiding newbies around our streets and landmarks. I’m still surprised at what London has in store for me when I go out to explore.

The plan is to live in London for a bit longer until I’ve saved up enough money to go and live abroad, which I want to do at some point in my twenties. I’ve done the whole backpacker thing in Eastern Europe and fell in love with the places, the people and the rakija. So I’d love to go further afield, and am weighing up teaching positions in Georgia versus metropolitan living in Berlin, Paris or Budapest. A difficult choice!

That is definitely all there is too me!

PHILOSOPHY

Carpe diem and all that jazz.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I was introduced to couchsurfing whilst in Eastern Europe by a friend, and loved it! I first surfed in Hungary, and then continued as I wound my way through the Balkans.

I’d like to start using couchsurfing whilst at home in London to hang out, get drunk with and to show travelers new to this city what is to be found here.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed a couple of couches whilst in Eastern Europe, including in Pecs, Tirana and Skopje, and met some cool people along the way. I’ve met a lot of inspiring people, who have motivated me to be a better person, and enjoy life to the fullest.

Every single experience has been amazing and so vastly different from the other.

Interests

Exploration and adventure, with people who are as different from me as it's possible to get. What's the point in socialising with those who you already have so much in common with. I like to be in the company of people and I get my energy from being out and seeking stimulation in whatever form I can find it.

Traveling has given me the chance to meet and get drunk with people from all over the world... they've all taught me a little something about their country and I'm grateful for it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watching the sun rise over the clouds from Mount Fuji, beer in hand. My friend and I made it with two minutes to go, after trekking all night in flip flops with a phone for a torch to see the sun emerge from within the clouds themselves (strangely not from over the horizon as I would have expected). And then we got to slide all the way down!

My first hitch hiking experience with a wild boar hunter in Southern Albania. Trying to get out of Southern Albania in general.

I guess that’s two. To be continued...
