About Me

Hi, I'm Jack - a passionate rock climber, adventurer, backpacker and digital nomad. I work as a web developer and blog at www.jacklyons.me and http://medium.com/adventure-in-my-veins

My NEXT STOP will be Austria, Hungray, Slovakia and USA in 2019!!

On my last big travel I spent a year living in Hangzhou, China teaching English and travelling around Asia. I am open for anything and everything and just find that I really am the happiest when I am our exploring and adventuring around the world. I come from a fairly laid back beach town, so I love the ocean, surfing and of course, everything to do with summertime.

CURRENT MISSION

Connect with like minds. be content in life and continually invest in my passion for travel, adventure, health and happiness no matter what happens in life. I like to stay fit, healthy and active through hiking, rock climbing, swimming, surfing, yoga and sometimes cross fit or similar styles of high intensity training.

PHILOSOPHY

Learning as well as teaching others, sharing stories, and making great friends all around the world. No matter what it is, there's always something new to learn or to teach, new conversations to be had and it's just so important to be inspired and passionate about something. For me it's travel, exploration, food, friendship and staying active outdoors.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have returned the couchsurfing favour for various surfers over the years, not so much recently, but that's mainly because I've been travelling a lot.

I enjoy meeting new people and helping out in any way possible. I do like to check out some couchsurfing events and parties from time to time, especially if it involves a great mix of international people, food and drinks!

Second to that, I have found couchsurfing to be really helpful in organising activities. I've hosted a few climbing get togethers in my hometown and in Austria, where I lived for half a year.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couchsurfed in Switzerland, Czech Republic, Sweden, China, Denmark and the US. All were great experiences; it's such a great way to really learn about a country, it's culture, meeting and understand the locals and experiencing things I would never be able to do on my own. It's more than just free accommodation on a couch. It's so amazing to share fun, and friendly experiences with people from all walks of life - just like the backpacking community is so open, fun and friendly - so is couchsurfing.

Interests

All sorts of Music, Playing Guitar, Festivals, Art and Design, Urban Planning, Cities, Languges and Culture.

Sports I enjoy playing and watching:
Rugby Union, Poker, Soccer, Surfing, Snowboarding, Skateboarding, Tennis, Golf, Rock Climbing, Ice Hockey, Hiking -- any sport really.
