About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn...

ABOUT ME

I am Scottish. I am an outdoors person. I am passionate sustainable living. I travel at any opportunity and have undertaken quite a few adventures ranging from driving across America to working in Sierra Leone and I am searching for many more..

I am currently studying for a PhD in the Circular Economy in Glasgow, Scotland and I am a Schmidt MacArthur Fellow (a fellowship set up by Eric Schmidt from Google and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation to help people research the circular economy .

PHILOSOPHY

I am an open minded person and I am genuinely interested in the differences in people that make the world an interesting place. I would describe myself as a humanist.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am a big believer in the sharing economy and all the benefits it brings, in particular allowing me to connect with people from all walks of life rather than sit by myself in a hotel room. I enjoy learning about the life stories (small and big) of all the people I stay with - that is what makes life interesting.

Interests

I try to live as sustainably as I can. The most important thing for me is to have regular immersion in nature and be able to dictate the direction of my own life.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Seneca, Any thing by Richard Feynman or Nicolas Taleb. Captain Corellis Mandolin.
Music: Shaky Graves - listen to them - they are new but are amazing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked the Garden Route in South Africa - one of the best hikes on this planet and dived with the Great White Sharks.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach a lot about sustainable living as well as cooking (and a lot about Scottish culture!) I have also travelled to more than 45 countries and so have many stories to share.

I like to learn anything I don't know - Spanish is my current focus!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to cook so I can cook on demand and I will provide a variety of Scottish produce!

Countries I’ve Visited
