Overview
About Me
I’m a recent graduate who spends most of her time traveling. I enjoy meeting new people and learning from others. I’m a huge nerd about linguistics and Afro-Caribbean musical and folkloric traditions. I can easily talk about that all day every day if you let me.
I’m at a weird transitional phase in my life where I’m preparing to move to Brazil in February, but I’m currently living and teaching in the Dominican Republic.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Looking to make new friends and find potential hosts in my travels.
Once I receive my job and area placement in Brazil, I will begin hosting other CS’s because I love helping others and welcoming people into my home. I would start now, but I’m living in the Dominican Republic with a host family.
Interests
Language is obviously my main interest, but I take interest in just about anything. I was part of various music ensembles and enjoying playing percussion and saxophone.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Latin music, jazz, classical, rock, funk, Mo-Town, any genre, really.
Authors: Hemingway and Joseph Conrad.
Favorite movie director: Pedro Almodóvar, Lucrecia Martel.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Decided to upend my life in the US to move to the Dominican Republic and work as a teacher all within 2 weeks.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Since I’m from the Indiana, you’ll get a huge dose of Midwestern Hospitality from me (you’ll also hear me say “ope.” a lot). I LOVE cooking, so I would love to share some of my family’s recipes with others and learn recipes. I am patient, easy-going and down-to-earth, so I’ll probably never complain or be super upset. I love talking about culture, film, music, history, art, honestly anything and would love to learn from others.
