About Me

CURRENT MISSION
Simplify life...encourage kids and grandkids to see the great big world

ABOUT ME
I teach college students at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, hope to have an impact so they can make their way in the world, try to teach them that there as much learning outside the classroom, as there is inside.

PHILOSOPHY

Become less of a consumer; enjoy more of the natural world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
The best traveling I have ever done...entire summer 2012 couchsurfing in Europe. Since then I've had pleasure of being the host at my home in Pittsburgh, PA

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Fabulous couchsurfing experiences. I've been the guest, where I've had more fun, saw more than any other way of traveling in Europe. Now in USA, short visits as couchsurfing guest is such a pleasant way to visit new place. I've hosted in my home, and it is gratifying to provide a pleasant place to stay for couchsurfers when I can.

Interests

Preservation of documents that record the past.
Genealogy research (a great way to meet very distant relatives).
Local Pittsburgh art and jazz
I have authored 3 books about Pittsburgh history,... the history of a college, the history of a church, and the history of a family.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music-jazz; Books-the whole library..look around, there is always something to read; newspapers-prefer in print with coffee

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Couchsurfed as a female traveler alone for summer of 2012. This is the only way to travel. Discovered my 6th cousins, met them here and in Europe; always amazing to me to meet people who have a common ancestor, even when it was 150 years ago!

Teach, Learn, Share

I've learned a lot from my older relatives..learned how to do family research...can teach how to put together the clues of family history to anyone who is interested..
I want to learn by doing, by traveling, by seeing.

Countries I’ve Visited

France, Germany, Switzerland, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
