Overview
About Me
I was a late bloomer and didn't leave the U.S. until I was 24. My first trip was with a tour group, the next with a friend, and now I've found I've come to most appreciate my solo adventures. The best parts of traveling for me, the parts that most clearly define my wanderlust, are the wonderful people I meet along the way and everything we teach each other :)
While I started my CouchSurfing account in 2014, I was a bit timid to use it and am only now starting to immerse myself in the community. I'm currently not accepting guests because I keep docking at my childhood home for a few months at a time to travel for the remainder of the year... going on 3 years in a row now :). When I do finally plant some roots, I absolutely plan on hosting!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
For me, the best part of traveling is the connections you make. I love the sense of community there is in finding like-minded others that are so vastly different.
Interests
I love all things food and beverage - cooking, eating, cocktails, beer, etc. I actually worked in the restaurant and craft brewing industries for quite a few years. I brew kombucha at home, grow my own herbs, and at any given time am probably dabbling in something culinary, like making preserves or trying to replicate an exotic dish.
Traveling is also at the top of the list, but I feel like that goes without saying here. There is nothing more liberating than carrying only a backpack and being asked "What day is it?" on a regular basis... and not knowing the answer lol. My favorite part of traveling is meeting people, learning from each other and sharing experiences. I also enjoy going to markets and sampling foods in different countries.
I enjoy being outdoors and getting sunlight. The ocean is my church. I'm always down for a beach day, and one day I hope to learn to surf. I also enjoy hiking, kayaking, and general exploring.
Art is also a big interest of mine. I enjoy taking in music and visual art the most. I like drawing, painting, collaging, etc., and while I wish I could play an instrument, alas I cannot. I am, however, happy to sing along if I know the words.

Music, Movies, and Books
Musically, I'm all over the place, but I listen to mostly indie rock. I also love indie pop, hiphop, punk, ska, r&b, jazz, bluegrass, world music... I told you I'm all over the place ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Some of my favorite artists are Ezra Furman, Broken Social Scene, Future Islands, Talking Heads, Dr. Dog, and Timber Timbre.
Favorite book of all time is White Noise by Don DeLillo. It's basically a really dry satire about the American lifestyle and value system. I love the Harry Potter series. I'm also into graphic novels and typically stick to the fiction section when I'm reading for enjoyment.
I don't know a lot about movies, but I do like a good amount of stuff from Quentin Tarantino and Guillermo Del Toro. I like sci-fi and have watched an unfathomable amount of episodes of Dr. Who and Outer Limits. My go-to when I turn on the TV is usually a cooking/food show (Alton Brown, anyone?).
