One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was determined in my life to get a job somewhere and earn my first coin as an employee. Back then I was living in a single room that my sister was settling the house rent... everyday I would wake up to her house to assist her to do some house chores for her since she had to leave for work. One day, i was approached by a guy whom I used to see buying paraffin in my sister's kerosene pump. After a long chat he asked me if I can lend him a couch ..I surely did and we started sharing . We started cooking together and life continued .
He got a job and was once lonely as usual but was determined to get me out of the house . One day he came with good news that there's is a juice company in need of employees to merchandise. The next day I was up in official attire ready for the interview. He gave me the direction and I left. I traced the company in vain for so many hours and I despaired.
I decided to go back and try my luck some other time. Just as I was about to board a matatu,(bus) a young man my age approached me ...He asked me if I was looking for a job since I had a small envelope with my cvs. The response was very fast ..yes .. He told me he want to quit his job for further studies but his boss won't allow him unless he had a replacement. I told him I was ready for any job. He asked me whether I had done computer packages especially book keeping, that was another !tick! He told me to go to a go down a few metres from where we were and say he is my cousin : and before then, he will have called his boss to inform him he has gotten a replacement.
I left very nervous but determined. I introduced myself to his boss and presented my paper's for interview. He went through them and asked how we were related with that guy..kimani. Of course he was my cousin. After a long chat he told me he will think about it and give me a call... fingers crossed, I left but smiling since that was a big stride.
Friday passed with no news ..Saturday as usual general cleaning and Sunday for church to ask for forgiveness.
On Monday I received a call at around 8..Am ..." hey !, aren't you reporting to work. Come quickly you are already late.."..good lord...my dreams are valid... i quickly answered" am on my way sir". I didn't even take a bath ..quickly boarded a motorcycle..and off to work.
I could not hide my smile the whole day and leave alone bouncing like a cock back home.
That's how I started working and have been in that company since that day Feb 2008 to date
7 years down the lane
I met my mentor kimani once and never heard from him again until 2014 ..but it's sad it seems he's almost out of his mind. .. Almost going insane
