About Me

Hey, I'm Jack. I am an avid traveller, looking to see the world and have some amazing adventures along the way.

I'm originally from Birmingham, England but left there pretty much as soon as I could. Since then I have spent my time travelling, and have been slowly taking advantage of working holiday schemes in Canada, Australia, and (next on my list) New Zealand.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have spent a inordinate amount of time in hostels over the course of my previous travels, and while I have made some good friends along the way I have come to realise that hostels only expose me to a very limited demographic.

I am looking to meet people from all walks of life. Locals who can teach me about their culture and help guide me on my journey.

Interests

I am a bit of a film buff, I love my music, and can always make some time for watching/playing sports.

I'm also a keen walker and love nothing more than the feeling of elation after scrambling to the top of a mountain

More than any of this though I love to try new things and learn new skills, even if they absolutely terrify me (which they usually do). The worst thing I find is to be doing the same things day in day out.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I'll listen to a bit of everthing. Generally I don't like to listen to the same sort of stuff over and over again (which is why I generally steer clear of the charts) so I'm always looking for people to offer suggestions.

Film: Anyhting with a sense of wonder or adventure, e.g. Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, any Pixar film

Books: Sometimes a meaty non-fiction book, sometimes a brainless action read

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Probably doing my first bungy jump in Queenstown, NZ, despite being terrified of heights

Teach, Learn, Share

Despite being terrible at languages back at school I have acquired a fascination with them in recent years. I am in the process of learning Spanish at the moment, but am always willing to learn a bit of the local dialect. In turn I simarly enjoy helping people with learning English.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A great personality and some above average cooking skills.
