About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Just hiked 300 miles of Appalachian Trail and now vagabonding till I get bored. Hoping to meet all the people. All of them. And learn all the things. And do all the things. :)
ABOUT ME
Who am I? I am a hacker, an educator, a writer, and an artist. I am a wanderer, a drinker of Unicorn Tears (in Denver!). A high-school drop out who graduated early anyway, I was recently invited by name to a White House event for my public professional work. I’ve traveled the world, been to a cult gathering by mistake, and I recently donated my house to charity (Habitat for Humanity)...just because I could. An ex-altar boy, I’ve held a government security clearance. From mansions to a trashy punk rock hacker compound, my backpack is the thing that most feels like home. My life experiences have ranged from “Dude, the pool is LITERALLY *on fire*” to "briefly homeless in San Francisco" to “Absolute corporate whore"...and back again. I think too much about things sometimes and I read the most useless fiction.
I've spent the past several years living with a variety of awesome housemates for company and I went to their Kostume Karaoke event weekly. Learning to karaoke sober is a life achievement for me. :)
My perfect job would be to design theme parks, but instead I work on national-level cybersecurity. On the side, I've been chairman of the board for a non-profit arts events corp, but I'd like to build more immersive art.
I am 36 yrs old, friendly, easy, and accommodating. A little shy at first, it doesn't take too long till I'm gabbing. I can be the life of the party, but am fundamentally an introvert. Friends consider me quite funny - if occasionally weird and pedantic. :)
PHILOSOPHY
"Remember you must die and fate is blind." - art to that effect is tattooed on me..."Memento Mori" above a blindfolded Atropos (one of the three fates). A more visceral way of saying "Carpe Diem". It's on my arm so I see it and am reminded daily to take control of the limited time I have.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Passively. Actively. Eagerly. Helpfully. Sarcastically. Amusingly. Intelligently. Shyly. Awkwardly. Vibrantly. Passionately. Pedantically. Carefully. Recklessly. Contradictorily. Contextually. Ah, we have it with that last one. I usually go with the flow. :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I spent several years living on couches off and on as a teenager - once in a hacker compound, once with friends. I spent a few days living in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Now, I live in group homes with cool people where I don't always know who is crashing and who is paying rent. I don't have to, I just like the social immersion for the moment.

Music, Movies, and Books
All of them. Really. If I can't read, my dreams get REALLY weird as my brain tries to fill in for the lack of input :).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Just one? Ive seen the grand canyon, I've seen a pool literally on fire. I've seen Dolphins riding waves for fun in the Atlantic. I've jumped off of a boat in Ha Long Bay in Vietnam, climbed temples in Cambodia. I've seen the Northern Lights in Florida and snuck beers with my brothers into a retired army tank. I've buried a car in the desert by mistake. I've been in love and wanted to burn the world down. I've had the perfect day with family.
