About Me
Recently graduated with my MS in Molecular Biology from Oklahoma State University, originally from rural California. I am very new to San Francisco, so while technically a “local” please don’t expect that I’ll know everything about this city! Unfortunately I have 4 housemates at the moment and can’t host travelers, but hopefully this will change at some point in the near future :)
Though I do not yet have any experience hosting couchsurfers, I have a lot of experience sharing rooms with yearlong exchange students as a host brother. My family has hosted two students from Armenia, one from Ukraine, one from Georgia and one from Serbia through my high school/college years. So I guess this could count as paying it forward to the world for now.
My Instagram is @jacobburchkonda where you can confirm that I am, in fact, a real person.
Update: I managed to attend my first couple CS meetups while I was traveling through Antalya and Tbilisi earlier this year. I hope that many more will be in my future!
This is my first winter with an Ikon pass so I’m looking forward to using it as much as I can

Music, Movies, and Books
I’m a big fan of discovering music through NPR tiny desk. I’ve also followed Eurovision as a guilty pleasure for years and often watch the older editions
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
- Lived in Turkey and Azerbaijan as an exchange student
- Have visited 35 of the 50 US states so I like to consider myself decently knowledgeable of my home country
