Overview
About Me
Hi! My name is Jake and I live in Brooklyn, NY. I am 33 and have been out of the U.S. a few times - Canada, Japan, Italy, France, Ireland, and UK...I am hoping to add more stamps to my passport over the next few years!
I enjoy rugged traveling - backpacking, hostels, hiking, camping...and of course exploring bars, restaurants, and cafes in the city center.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I really would like to meet some locals for advice and guidance navigating new countries. I am also hoping to get to know more about the attitudes and thoughts of locals - it always help me learn more about the country I am visiting. I'd also like to make some new friends who I can show around NYC some day.

Music, Movies, and Books
I am a fan of classic cinema - Hitchcock, Woody Allen, James Bond, and Scorsese. I also enjoy lots of contemporary shows on American TV - Breaking Bad, Bates Motel, Night Of, and Law and Order.
I love seeing live music - rock, jazz, funk...I am hoping to find good music venues when I am abroad. My favorite bands are Phish, Beck, Common, Alt-J, plus lots of jazz greats like Miles Davis and John Coltrane.

Teach, Learn, Share
I'm happy to share my knowledge about the U.S. I live in NYC so I can definitely help anyone who's planning a trip there.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Well, my living situation is changing soon, so I am not sure what my next arrangement will be like. Anyway, I am happy to show you around Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, etc. I also made a walking/biking tour of Brooklyn showing some haunted houses - would be happy to take you on that!
