About Me

My name is Jacob, and i’m a 19 y/o musician from the Netherlands. In 2018 I started with studying engineering at the college in Aachen, Germany, and lived there for a while. But I soon realised that this study wasn’t for me, and I’d wrather take the risk of doing what I love and create music and have fun in life :) So I baught/built myself a tiny house and put it out on the field that belongs to our house, Now I have a place to live, without much costs involved, and a place to practise and create my music, out in nature. I play guitar, violin, sing and write my own songs, and I love to jamm with friends or create things with other people. My hobbies or are very spread out. I love making music and everything around that. I also am a long time climber/parkour/surfing guy, those sports and all other things outside is always fun to me. I also love forging and the art of blacksmithing :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well... The reason I am on couchsurfing is because I love traveling want to see more of the world. My plan is to tour starting this may through europe, and maybe beyond, traveling with my guitar, and music setup and busk/ preform wherever I can! Promoting my songs, and having fun along the way ;) this was also a reason to buy/build my tiny house. So that I have a place to come back to whenn I run into trouble or I end up with not enough money to keep on traveling :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I’m a big music/ movie fan, I really love blues, country, rock, jazz, R&B, pop, funk, swing, and a bit of oldschool hip hop :) I collect vinyl records and love to find new styles of music on old vinyls. Favourite musicians/bands are, clapton, gary clark jr. , the beatles, john mayer, hendrix, louis armstrong, glenn miller, louie jordan, kaleo, sean angus wattson, cave town, mac demarco, RHCP, AM, billie eilish, ella fitsgerald, mac miller, peach pit, led zepp, greta van fleet, cream, half alive, oliver tree, the milk carton kids, hozier, bb king, robert johnson, lightnin guitar hopkins, and all the big blues guys.
I love the tarantino movies, and really like fantasy stuff like LOTR, GOT, harry potter, marvel/ DC stuff. I really loved LOGAN, shutter island, all the LOTR movies, lucky number slevin, the old james bond, and die hard films, children of men is an all time favourite, the jurrasic park movies, and all the classics. Im also a fan of the old disney animated movies because I grew up with that stuff :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I’ve played my second gig ever, playing guitar while singing my own written songs, whenn I was 17 for a crowd of 700 people! I just started writing songs, and played guitar for about 10 months. It was my second time playing live for other people. This was a really scary but amazing experience, and helped me gain the confidence to play more often for crowds. The gig was at a Fridays For Future rally, where i’ve played a lot of times since then. And now I gig regulary :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn new things by just doing them and learning as I go. That way I learned to play guitar, work with metal, how to surf, and many other things. I often rely on my gut instincts :) I love to share the things I learned with anyone that wants to know more, and would’t hesitate to share knowledge!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my fun mood, music or jammsessions, cooking skills, and a helpful hand if needed, whenn I’m visiting I’ll be playing around the town in the streets, bars, or where ever and try to cheer up peoples lives with music :)
