About Me

Hey! I'm Jacob (or Jake). I've basically lived my whole life in North Carolina, USA and as of August 2016 have been traveling the world (basically western Europe, Morocco, Israel, Vietnam, and Australia so far). I have no idea when I plan to stop. 😎

I can say now that I'm a semi experienced traveler that while the sights of a new country are great, meeting the PEOPLE and learning about their way of life and the culture is what real traveling is all about and I think that's what Couchsurfing is all about. Not just hosting but bring people together and I love that. I have hosted and been hosted, as well as met some travelers on the road and attended CS group meetups which have always been great.

I have a degree from a major university in finance. I've played soccer all my life and even played some American football as well. I'm a pretty big sports fan with the World Cup being my favorite sports event. I love to cook, read/listen to books, explore the great outdoors, and have a few drinks occasionally.

I actually own a home in Charlotte, NC right near downtown, so I'm a good connection to have if you ever come to the USA, as my home is in a prime location. I also have connections all over the USA in Denver, New York City, Tampa, Philadelphia, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, San Diego, Orlando, Washington DC, and anywhere in North Carolina. I could easily get you in contact with someone in those cities.

Ive worked in sales and in home loans/mortgage for the last seven years in the US and have lived in Tampa (Florida), Raleigh (North Carolina), Denver (Colorado), and of course Charlotte (North Carolina).

Overall, Im a very RESPECTFUL person who is eager to meet new people and experience new cultures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have heard very positive things about Couchsurfing- hosting and surfing. I am joining Couchsurfing for two reasons:

#1- As a host, it would be interesting and fun to host someone visiting my country from another country, or even another region of the USA. I get to learn their ways and about where they come from, while giving them information and showing them my city.

#2- As a traveler, I see Couchsurfing as a great way to get to know a local friend who can undoubtedly be the best way to get insights into the local way of life and the city.

Interests

One of my greatest passions in life are dogs. I was a volunteer at the Animal Shelter in Charlotte. Dogs are nothing but positive energy radiating and I like to catch those vibes as often as I can; plus, it really does feel good to give your time to a worthy cause.

I like to stay active so I tend to take long jogs 2-3 times a week and maybe lift weights 1-2 times a week, in my normal life (traveling makes this a bit harder). Healthy eating is a passion of mine and I try to eat a well balanced and healthy diet, which is also why I like cooking. Again this is much harder when traveling.

Taking walks or hiking on a nice day with good music or an audio book are great.

Soccer, tennis, basketball, football, and frisbee are all sports I enjoy a lot.

I love finding new good music, Game of Thrones, and the occasional movie.

During my stay with a host, I don't mind doing some chores or cleaning a bit to earn my keep. I'm very respectful of you and your home and everything in it.
