Hello! My name is Jacob.
I am currently in my 3rd year of my Bachelor of Social Science in International Studies & Modern Languages at the University of Ottawa in Canada.

I’m a young open-minded traveller who is currently living in Lyon, France (as of January 11th) and I am looking to meet amazing people and make friends from all over the world!

I am on couch surfing because I grew up with my family’s bed & breakfast in Wiarton, Ontario on the Bruce Peninsula and I realize the strong connections and great friendships that can be made when locals open their homes up to fellow like minded individuals.

I love all kinds of music but I prefer folk (like Milky Chance), indie- rock (like alt-j), hip-hop (like Post Malone) and rock (like ACDC).

I am really interested in mystery crime thrillers like Sherlock Holmes and action films.

I can’t say I have read too many books outside of University but I do really like Siddhartha written by Hermann Hesse and The Alchemist written by Paulo Coelho.

I did a year long Rotary Youth Exchange abroad in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil from 2013 to 2014 when I was 17 years old

I enjoy teaching and sharing my culture as well as the languages I speak (English, French & Portuguese).

I love to learn about local history and the local must visit places or must do activities.

I am extremely friendly and I love to talk about all kinds of things especially those that are political and philosophical.

I am very neat and I love to share about my Canadian culture and experiences with hosts and others.

I also have many years of experience with cleaning dishes, so I can definitely help with those.

I am returning home to Canada as of June 2018 and will not be available to host in Lyon, désolé!
