Overview
About Me
I am Jacob Palosky, a 22 year old traveler. I recently graduated university with a mechanical engineering degree, but my heart lies elsewhere. If you ever want someone to nerd-out with you about the most obscure, old, and art-house films I’m your guy. I am currently traveling before my job/volunteer position for the Peace Corps starts in Zambia for over 2 years.
I’m always down for an adventure, especially ones in the middle of nature (I love connecting with the serene environment around me, it gives me energy). So if you want to go camping on top of a mountain in the middle of nowhere, that would be one of the best nights of my life!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
One of my favorite parts of traveling is experiencing the culture of a place as much as possible. This usually takes the form of meeting people, hitchhiking, and taking as much local transport as I can, eating as much local foods, and going to as many markets as possible. I decided to add couchsurfing to that as I heard it’s a great place to connect with locals and get a different experience of a place.
Interests
I love film, and have wayyy too much knowledge about movies from all time periods/all over the world. Also card/board games, and just meeting interesting people.

Music, Movies, and Books
I always find that my favorite movies tell a story about me as a person. It’s impossible for me to pick just one as I love so many but here’s 5 of them in no particular order:
Chungking Express (1994) - Wong Kar-wai
It’s Such a Beautiful Day (2012) - Don Hertzfeldt
Moonlight (2016) - Barry Jenkins
An Elephant Sitting Still (2018) - Hu Bo
Portrait of a Lady on Fire (2019) - Celine Sciamma
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I crossed Asia from the Ural River to Taiwan overland
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can give you an endless supply of stories and good company. I also enjoy cooking, though I’m not an expert, so I’m always happy to help around the kitchen (or anywhere else around the house)
