About Me

Artist, Ex-Georgian

My profile is outdated, I'm sleepy and honestly feeling a little lazy right now, so I'll change this message once I come around to updating it. Lol. ☺️

Come visit me!

See you soon,
Jake

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm not much a traveler, so come visit me in Athens, GA! I've got a couch that can support one and if y'all bring your own equipment (and I have some to provide too, no sleeping bags although), the living room floor is a comfy place for sleeping bags or a comforter and pillows.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I initially joined to travel to Europe with my ex, and now I'm using it to meet and experience new faces. It has been an amazing tool thus far.

CURRENT MISSION

To meet new people.

Interests

Amateur pixel artist.

You can catch me playing the new Paper Mario, Pokemon Sun, or reading from Margaret Atwood's Madd Addam series.

Otherwise I'm trying to hone my illustration and animating skills or learning new ones.

Been trying out some new board-games lately too: Shadow Hunters, Splendor, King of Tokyo, Battle Sheep and the Great Snowball Fight.

Music, Movies, and Books

BOOKS

Been slowly getting back into reading. Will post more once I get more under my belt.

MUSIC

Architecture in Helsinki --> MF Doom ->> Between the Buried and Me. That's as diverse as Indie Pop --> Hip Hop --> Technical Progressive Death Metal.

MOVIES

Welp, it's not golden, but I've always been a fan of Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. I'd recommend reading the graphic novels by Bryan O'Malley although. Otherwise, David Fincher's Gone Girl was fantastic and I'm a fan of Spike Jonze. s Mulholland Drive and we recently watched Persepolis; I loved the animation and story.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've run to the top of a mountain top in the Negev Desert, Israel in the pitch black with nothing but the stars and moon to guide my way. In the near distance, a group was surrounded by a campfire and I could have sworn I was in a Western movie. All was silent, but all was alive. The next day I was photographed doing headstands illuminated in a solar halo by the sun; In hindsight, that was dangerous and I could have been attacked by a camel spider or fallen. I was 21 at the time and our leaders were kind of furious with us.

Update: Since then I've ridden a small capacity motorbike through the streets of Saigon/Hi Chi Minh City, VN during rush hour and driven on an expressway only meant for cars and larger vehicles.

Teach, Learn, Share

Want to learn how to animate with an incredibly dense and frustrating program called Maya? I'm your guy! (Jk, I learned it in college, but didn't follow through with continuing to use it)

I can make an "extensive" list of all of the Anime you should watch or may have never seen. Lately (1/30/17) I have been watching Natsume's Book of Friends and I just love, love, love it.

Let me draw your face. Lord knows I need/want the practice.

I will play video games and board games with you. I will also drink with you. Cheers!

What I Can Share with Hosts

An attempt at extensive or smalltalk about anything you would like to discuss. I can share my smile, my friendliness, my willingness to converse and learn, and stories from back home or my travels.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Israel, Mexico, Philippines, Viet Nam
