About Me

Howdy!

Canadian writer and existentialist. Craft beer salesperson. Lover of travel, vegetables, nature, and all things local. Overthinking hippie.

The house is strewn with instruments you are free to use. Or you can yelp, howl, and purr to your own wild tunes. The same goes for pots, pans, spices and the Lego blocks of salads. We're here to get mixed up, and I couldn't be more grateful.

Unfortunately, impersonal (copy/paste) requests are an instant decline. A minute worth of reading a profile is a modest trade for days worth of a host's time and energy.

While I respect autonomy when it comes to personal health, I respectfully ask that guests are fully vaccinated to protect myself and my community.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The simplicity of this platform is as astounding as it is heartwarming. Trading personality, humour, observation, and energies (things so easily taken for granted) for a few square meters of space and the precious time of someone's life. Reflecting and being in the world at the same time, simmered in the ephemerality of such distances from home.

Interests

Craft beer, literature, comedy, architecture, vegetables, nature, (successfully) fighting off the existential malaise, local support, polyrhythms, and things that smell just dandy.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Skin Team (Jordaan Mason), The Myth of Sisyphus (Albert Camus), Still Life With Woodpecker (Tom Robbins), A Canticle for Liebowitz (Arthur Miller Jr.), The Anthologist (Nicholson Baker), Dr. Faustus (Christopher Marlowe), Hey, Nostradamus! (Douglas Coupland), Naked Lunch (William S. Burroughs), The Book of Questions (Edmond Jabès), The Shock Doctrine (Naomi Klein), The Metamorphosis (Franz Kafka), Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (Douglas Adams), How Music Works (David Byrne), and all things Wilde, Donne, Ionesco, or Wordsworth. Or just anything that goes against the grain. Bonus points if it goes against itself.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Skateboarded into a hamburger commercial and had a ride-off with the host.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Guitar, and anything you would like to know about beer or it's wonderful history. Also, the basics of fermentation and some easy recipes for those buzzwords like Kvass, Nut Cheese, Mead, Beer, Rejouvelac, Kombucha, etc.

Learn: Your grandmother's favorite recipe. Some Russian or Ukrainian, if you've got any on you.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to cook vegan / vegetarian foods. If you're in the mood to try something new, I'm happy to provide! And by "in the mood," I mean there will be food, and I will be just as confused as you are as to how it happened. Will also provide the best friendship your dog has had in years. If music is your thing, a full jam studio is set up in the basement, sanctioned and I daresay encouraged by the friendliest of neighbors.

Countries I’ve Visited
