Hi everyone, I'm Jacob! 👋 I usually travel with my amazing wife Mackenzie, but sometimes I'm solo.

Next trip is through Mexico and Central America through Feb and March!

We travel ~8 months per year and live at home in North Carolina in the other months. Very excited to host if any surfers ever visit our small town. 😅

We've dedicated our 20s to seeing as much of the world as possible to get a better understanding of our place in it and to be able to share some awesome stories with future grandkids. Always looking to add to the list!

We love travel immersion - meeting locals, learning languages, and understanding cultures. For this, we always travel slowly overland by hitchhiking or public transport and use CS as much as possible. 👍

Hola todos! Soy Jacob. Estoy viajando con mi esposa Mackenzie, y juntos hemos visitado más de 70 países! 🌎 Actualmente estoy viajando solo para las 3 semanas últimas de esta viaje.

El actual viaje es por México y América Central y estamos acá 2 meses. Hablamos español conversacional y queremos mejorarlo durante este viaje.

Viajamos 8 meses por año y vivimos en casa en North Carolina, EU los otros. Estamos muy emocionados de recibir huespedes en NC si ellos visitan nuestro pueblo humilde. 😅 Por favor, envíenos pedidos!!

Hemos dedicado nuestros 20s a ver la mayor parte posible del mundo para comprender mejor nuestro lugar en él y poder compartir muchas historias con futuros nietos. Siempre estamos buscando agregar algo a la lista!

Nos encanta la inmersión de viaje: conocer gente local, aprender idiomas, y comprender culturas. Para esto, siempre viajamos lentamente por tierra, haciendo autostop o en transporte publico y usamos CS tanto como sea posible.

Music, Movies, and Books

BOOKS
I try to read a book from every country I visit, so I'm always open to suggestions. I love historical fiction. Some favorite authors are John Steinbeck, Khaled Hosseini, and Gabriel García Márquez.

MUSIC and MOVIES
I'm not a huge music or film guy, though I'm always up to hear your favorite local band or relax on a Friday night to a good movie.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

If I have to choose one, it's quitting our good corporate jobs to travel like broke backpackers for 3 years.

But, some favorite travel experiences:

- Hitchhiking 6000km across Arabia,camping in the desert and attending a local wedding between cousins.
- Cruising through the Galapagos, swimming with sharks, sea turtles, and sea lions
- Canoeing the Amazon for five days, finding 5m long anacondas and rare pink river dolphins
- Flying in a helicopter over an erupting volcano in Hawaii
- Witnessing a sacred sky burial while hitchhiking through Tibet
- Hiking to a remote section of the Great Wall of China to sleep in a tower, then waking up to the best sunrise ever
- Living with Orthodox monks on the holy Mount Athos for four days
- Witnessing an epic game of kok boru the Pamir Plateau (horseback capture the flag but the flag is a dead goat)
- Attending the sacred Jamaya festival in Iraq alongside thousands of Yazidis
- Experiencing a birth celebration with the Kalash people in the Hindu Kush mountains of Pakistan
