Overview
About Me
I first left the United States in 2012 to live in China, and I have been traveling ever since. I am a PhD candidate at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. When not sequestered in a library reading books and watching old films, I am outside hiking, playing video games, going to the orchestra, or finding something new to do.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love talking to people about why they moved or why they stayed put. Having lived in six cities and three countries during the past 10 years (northeastern Ohio, southern China, Macao, New York, Washington DC, and Philadelphia), I find it fascinating when/why/how people ended up where they now live. I want to hear your travel narrative so I can selfishly cross-compare our notes!
Also, if you are a fellow LGBTQ person and/or academic, I am especially glad to meet you!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I will listen to just about anything. Lately, I have been listening to Dolly Parton, Denise Ho, and Miriam Makeba
Movies: Favorite 2019 movies include Parasite, Midsommar, and Portrait of a Lady on Fire.
Books: I read eighteenth-century literature for a living, so if you have strong opinions about Jonathan Swift, Jane Austen, or anyone alive from 1660-1840, we can butt heads about it!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2013, I held a baby panda in Chengdu. It is still my biggest accomplishment to date although MiaoMiao has since moved on to bigger and better things.
Countries I’ve Visited
Cambodia, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Viet Nam
Countries I’ve Lived In
China, Macao, United States
