ABOUT ME

I am an easy-going, upbeat person. I enjoy meeting new people and learning about other cultures. I love trying new things, foods, experiences, music, etc. I am easily excitable and always happy to help out. I am very respectful and tidy. I love good beer. Probably too much.

PHILOSOPHY

I was taught as a youngster to never let anyone tell me I can't. I was taught to be respectful and kind. I was taught to follow the golden rule. I don't believe in the "you scratch my back..." school of thought. I don't take advantage of people but rather give them the benefit of the doubt.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now I am looking for great people to host myself and likely three others in London and Scotland in late October, early November. I do not have the means to host at my current residence but I would love to when means are available.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Never surfed before, very excited about it!

Music is my main hobby. I spend a lot of time listening to music and playing guitar. I like to build and take things apart (computers, guitar stuff, cars). I hike and backpack with my S.O. and we enjoy spending time at home, too. We are all on different schedules so it is nice to sit down for dinner once in a while. I cook a little and while not a recipe book I sure can follow one!

I am admittedly a metalhead. My musical heroes include Amon Amarth, Opeth, Devin Townsend, Animals as Leaders, Porcupine Tree, Judas Priest, Dream Theater, Joe Satriani, Tool, Jeff Beck, In Flames, Lamb of God, Meshuggah, Mogwai, Sigur Ros, David Gilmour, Steely Dan, Debussy, and countless others. I'm not much of a reader, but I have read some good books: Great Expectations, David Copperfield, Sphere, Dune, Foundation, Battlefield Earth, probably more I'm not remembering. Some of my recent favorite movies include: Let the right one in, There Will Be Blood, No Country For Old Men, The Matrix, The Fall, Inception, among others.

The views from the top of the world at the Enchantments in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness and the summits of South Sister and Mt. St. Helens. Witnessing the birth of my Nephew. Shaking the hands of Devin Townsend, Brent Hinds, Joe Satriani.

We are all trying to find the best way to live. All have basic human needs (food, shelter, heat), all have basic human desires (love, acceptance, faith), all have certain proclivities (likes/dislikes). In our quest for these three tiers of humanity, never forget that each of us shares a common bond with one another. We are and remain human - together.
