ABOUT ME
Open minded, happy people who spent a happy year travelling the world and meeting new people, and have now been living in 'the real world' for a while.
PHILOSOPHY
If breaking the rules doesn't hurt anyone, then that's a problem with the rules, not with your behaviour.
If there's two ways to do it, pick the way that pisses off the fewest people.
'Awesome' means 'inspiring of awe'. Do not overuse it or it will cease to have any meaning: Niagara Falls is awesome, the Grand Canyon is awesome. A cup of coffee can be good, maybe even great, but never awesome.
It's always darkest before the dawn. So, if you're going to steal your neighbour's newspaper, that's the time to do it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We only found out about Couch Surfing a short while before leaving the UK, but we managed to play host to one person before we left. We are grateful to have been able to play guest and to see places through the eyes of the people who live there. Since our return, we've hosted several folks and have enjoyed hearing their travel tales and being a part of their big adventure for a short while.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We've found ourselves on an all-day brewery crawl in Vermont; we've played frisbee golf in Vancouver; we've stayed up until the wee small hours talking about everything and nothing just about everywhere we've been.
Interests
Ooh, bits of everything really. We both love all sorts of music (we're both musicians), cookery and the great outdoors. Jacob's been into photography for a while, and Kirsty's getting more and more into it too. Film, scuba diving, motorbikes, linguistics, zoology, sci-fi, evolutionary theory, cocktails and literature all feature in our collective interest to one degree or another.

Music, Movies, and Books
Umm, OK. There are bound to be some absolutely fabulous examples of all of these which we'll remember after saving this profile, but here goes...
Pulp Fiction, Alien, The Shawshank Redemption, Star Wars, From Dusk Till Dawn, Casablanca, Niagara Niagara, Juno, Memento, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Good Will Hunting, Philadelphia Story (Jacob will watch anything with Katherine Hepburn in it), Metropolis, haven't seen the entire Cronenberg catalogue but it all seems pretty good so far...
All manner of music: Bruce Springsteen, Faithless, Rachmaninov, Suzanne Vega, Michael Jackson, Fountains of Wayne, The Hold Steady, Ben Harper, John Coltrane, Bad Religion, Iron Maiden, Christy Moore, Beastie Boys, James Taylor, The Delays, Counting Crows and so on, and so on...
Jacob studied Literature at university, so the book list is pretty varied too: anything by Douglas Adams and the wonderful Christopher Brookmyre, We Need to Talk About Kevin, The Electric Michaelangelo, Catch 22, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Shakespeare (tragedies in particular), The Canterbury Tales, Running With Scissors, The Big Sleep, A Tale of Two Cities, The Woman in White...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The world. Everything is amazing in its own way.
Teach, Learn, Share
We could teach you to play the drums or piano, tie knots, make bread, make jewellery from beads and string, mix a kick-ass Bloody Mary and understand the four stroke cycle of an internal combustion engine or some of the finer points of evolutionary theory.
We'd probably be willing to learn whatever you could teach, but levitation and time-travel would be pretty high on both of our wish lists.
We'll share whatever we can.
