About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Working and living in Seattle before going to college. I might take another trip soon, who knows!

ABOUT ME

**PLEASE READ**
Hi! I get on average about 10 requests a day, so make your request count. I'm not asking for your life story, just read my profile and tell me why you think we would get along. Requests with no character will be declined immediately. Also, I live my life pretty much by the seat of my pants so it's best to request me only about a week in advance. The rest comes down to timing. That's all, I promise that I'm far from high-maintenance, I'm just trying to help y'all out.

I'm Jacob! I'm born and raised in St. George, Utah, USA. It's a desert town with a population of about 76,000, 2 hours from Las Vegas one way, and 2 hours from the Grand Canyon the other way. Recently returned from a 6 month trip though Iceland, Scotland, England, France, Greece, Austria, Hungary, and Turkey, I'm now working and saving up for my next trip through South America.

PHILOSOPHY

I guess I would say that the whole idea of life and that I'm living surprises me. I'm just trying to be the best person that I can. I believe in only one thing, and it is so fundamental that words cannot even begin to describe it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I couchsurfed a few times during my trip in Europe. I would have loved to more, but it's hard to be hosted without many references nowadays. I'm interested in hosting people so that I can keep the spirit of travel in my everyday life while I save to travel again.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed and I've hosted, it's great!

Interests

I love literature and music. I can talk for days about life, love, art, etc... But, I can joke too. In fact, most of the time I am making some stupid joke. Though, I am more than anything an avid student of life. I very much enjoy learning anything about any subject!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I pretty much like any film that people with common sense enjoy. Also things that challenge the standard.

Music: I love Bob Dylan, David Bowie, The Talking Heads, T. Rex, Modest Mouse, Pinback, Neil Young, Fleet Foxes, Songs: Ohia, Cat Stevens, Lou Reed, The Velvet Underground, Tom Waits, etc.. As a good rule of thumb I like older music. Slowly starting to open up to more modern stuff.

Books, books, books.. I have enjoyed Kurt Vonnegut, Haruki Murakami, Edward Abbey, Jack Kerouac, Ray Bradbury, D.F.W., Charles Bukowski, Tom Robbins, John Muir, Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and others I forget. I love literature, though, and love to talk about it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent 6 months backpacking through Europe.

Climbed Wheeler Peak in Great Basin National Park, USA, in my Teva sandals. 13,063 feet. It's a big deal for me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my space while you visit Seattle! I do work a full time job, but the times I'm not working I'll gladly explore with you!

I can teach you a little bit of Spanish and Turkish. I can teach you how to build a fence, adobe brick houses, fry an egg.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my incredible wit and humor. I'm also interested in cooking, having tried so many amazing dishes on my trip I'd love to try and make some!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, France, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Turkey, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
