About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To constantly learn more about this world we all live in!

ABOUT ME

I'm a 21 year old, soft-spoken musician who writes music as "Herons Wake". I enjoy exploring and climbing things (although I'm not very good at it), playing music with new people, recording sounds, making new friends, and getting to know other people's philosophies. I've got unruly blonde hair that never does what I'd like it to do. I grew up in a small town which I think helped to shape me into who I am, rather introverted and easy-going.

PHILOSOPHY

There's not much we can know about the world for sure, but what we can know is that we each have such a short time to be on the face of this planet. We should make the most of it by exploring new places, meeting new people, being kind to each other, and making surpassingly beautiful art.

I live my life to create, and to make others happy because of what i create.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've stayed with a few hosts while travelling through Spain - all have been extremely gracious and completely interesting people. I can't wait to have my own place so I can host travellers in Canada.

Interests

Music (Playing, Writing, Recording)

I'm absolutely fascinated with capturing sounds and I'll often be found with a portable microphone, trying to capture the sound of water dripping, wind blowing through trees, bells jingling, or an interesting conversation.

Reading. I like to read Poetry, History, Philosophy, Mythology, and Comparative-Religion. As for fiction, I enjoy Fantasy and Science-Fiction.

Woodworking (Carving), whittling, and woodburning.

I may not know much about it, but I love architecture, and looking out for interesting buildings wherever i go.

OK, if you know me at all, then you probably know my undying love for the Buffy The Vampire Slayer series. Greatest TV show ever, no takebacksies.

Books: J.R.R. Tolkien, American Gods, Fifth Business, The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, Scott Pilgrim, The Poetic Edda, Tao Te Ching, The Dhammapada, The Middle-Length Discourses of the Buddha, The Bhagavad Gita...

My favourite types of music: indie folk, indie rock, freak folk, post-rock, dream pop, experimental, psychedelic, shoegaze, ambient, pop, psychedelic pop, indie pop

Last FM: http://www.last.fm/user/therhapsody

Movies: Spirited Away, (anything from Studio Ghibli really), Samsara, Akira...

Teach, Learn, Share

I could probably teach you to play a little bit of guitar, or a little bit of music theory. You could pick my brain about Buddhist Philosophy (which is what i'm currently studying), and Norse Mythology (which I will always love with a fiery pasison). I could sit down carve wood with you if you had the time as well!

I'd love to learn whatever you can teach me! I want to learn to speak Icelandic, French, and Japanese.
