About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learning cultures/languages, meeting people and making friendships

ABOUT ME

I'm a 22 year old graduate of the University of Sheffield. I studied Physics with Mathematics there and have abandoned physics for a life in insurance. Moving to the beautiful city of York for September, and would love to meet people there, either visitors or residents.

I'm into environmentalism and culture exchange. You'll find me surrounded by plants whenever I get the chance. I speak English and Welsh fluently, and I'm keen on further improving my French and Mandarin Chinese. And since a recent trip to Berlin, I've fallen a bit in love with the German language.

I love cooking. I'm vegetarian with an interest in veganism, so meal preparation can be a little creative

In my spare time I like to learn more about things. I read, study, meet people or develop skills. I'll be trying to get my piano and ukulele playing back on track, but they're very rusty right now!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I unfortunately cannot host (don't have a house of my own), but I hope to meet people visiting this beautiful city. Once I learn more about it, I'll definitely be interested in showing you around my favourite spots!

I plan on travelling where possible, probably on weekends to nearby places to get a better feeling for England. There's so much to see on your doorstep without needing a plane, and I hope to discover some of it!

Interests

Cooking, visiting outdoors, finding new places and meeting new people, politics, language-learning, music-learning.

Music, Movies, and Books

Anyone who knows me can vouch for my slight obsession with the Beach Boys. Michael Jackson and Jamie T are also pretty high up my playlists right now. I really like the Arctic Monkeys too.

I don't watch too many movies. I enjoyed the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Wes Anderson ones tend to be great. The few Studio Ghibli movies I've seen I've really enjoyed. I'm particularly interested in documentaries or movies with a historical basing.

As for books I don't tend to read fiction. I'm most interested in books that can explain the world of today, so recent history, current politics, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I guess I'm yet to have that one stand-out moment in my life, but my last bout of travelling gave me lots of wonderful times to remember.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm more a learner at the moment, I don't feel I have much to share yet. I know Welsh, some French and some Mandarin Chinese which I could share.

I could teach you about physics! I didn't tackle much astronomy but enjoy introducing people to particle physics, quantum mechanics, relativity and maybe a bit about the Higgs Boson in a way that would make sense to a beginner.
