Overview
About Me
Hey everyone, I'm a generally adventurous, easygoing guy and am always looking for new experiences! Something important to know, though, is that I have a lot of dietary restrictions because I am Jewish. Don't worry! I'm used to it and am always used to improvising.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Having grown up in a relatively boring city, I've always had a desire to learn more about other cultures, ways of life, and just soak up others' experiences. Couchsurfing is an amazing way to do that, as it puts you in touch with people, their stories, and sometimes even their hobbies (which I am open to learning as well)!
Interests
I enjoy reading, hiking (or being out in nature in general), concert-going, and urban exploration. I'm not really one for parties; I definitely prefer relaxing, chatting, and taking in what's around me.
Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite bands are: The Beatles, Queen, Electric Light Orchestra, Arcade Fire, The Black Keys, Kanye West, Gorillaz, The Flaming Lips, MGMT, Radiohead, The XX, Broken Bells, CHVRCHES, LCD Soundsystem, Miike Snow, Ratatat, Robyn, Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Traveling Wilburys, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes
My favorite movies are: The Shawkshank Redemption, Spirited Away, Life Is Beautiful, Sicario, Star Wars, 21 Jump Street, Kung Fu Hustle, Children of Men, WALL-E, Toy Story, Chronicle, Drive, Shawn of the Dead, A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, The Wild Bunch, Your Name
My favorite books are: The Remains of the Day (Kazuo Ishiguro), Harry Potter series (J.K. Rowling), All the Light We Cannot See (Anthony Doerr), Calvin and Hobbes (Bill Waterson), City of Thieves (David Benioff), The City & the City (China Mieville), Watership Down (Richard Adams), Timeline (Michael Crichton), Nothing to Envy (Barbara Demick), The Count of Monte Cristo (Alexander Dumas), Shogun (James Clavell), Good Omens (Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I worked as a mascot for an American baseball team.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm really hoping to learn about my host's culture, ways of life, and society. I'm learning Mandarin and Spanish, so if I could pick those up as well, that would be nice :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share a perspective with hosts that they probably have not encountered before. I was born in a small city in America and moved to Israel when I was 18, where I served in the military and now attend school. I think I could share my experiences of having grown up in small-town America as well as in the Middle East. And if any hosts of mine want to practice their English or learn some new Hebrew words and phrases, I could be of help there as well.
Most importantly, I bring a sense of humor!
