Overview
About Me
I am a 26 year-old human male with (as of this update) a beard and an above-average number of eyes.
In August 2014 I hitch-hiked and couchsurfed my way across Canada, and I wound up living and working there for nearly 18 months. In June/July 2015 I rode a bicycle from Seattle to San Francisco, one of the best things I've done in my life. I have since returned to Australia and moved to Canberra to start my PhD. I still like bikes.
I love to get outdoors and be surrounded by natural beauty. Hiking, rock climbing, bicycling and scuba diving are some of my favourite ways to do this.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Honestly, I joined because it seemed like a fun thing to do and a cheap way to travel. It's turned out to be just that, and much more. I really enjoy the spirit of generous folks - not just for what they're willing to provide, but because they so often think beyond themselves. Some of the most fun I've had has been through my CS hosts.
Thanks to CS, I have been overwhelmed by the generosity of strangers and shown some beautiful things, met some inspiring people and made amazing friends. I am excited for the chance to host and return the favour in future.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like books that turn the world inside out and leave you wondering for days. I don't think I have a favourite band, but if the music is soulful and authentic I will quite enjoy it. My relationships with food, music and people are similar: I take pleasure in novelty, but quality will keep me coming back for more.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Seen ten thousand fish at once while Scuba diving off the Gili islands.
Spotted Comet Hale-Bopp from 30,000 feet.
Descended from a mountain after dark, through a rainforest without a trail, without a torch, by accident. It was okay though, we had a guide...
Drove through a prairie storm in Manitoba.
Hitch-hiked from Montreal, QC to Victoria, BC.
Bicycled from Seattle to San Francisco.
