About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Experience as much as I can, in as many different places as I can; keep my heart full and my door always open. Give and forgive...

ABOUT ME

In 2012, I was working a corporate job in the city state of Singapore, having left my hometown of Melbourne, Australia, a few years earlier. A spontaneous idea to travel to Nepal saw me boarding a plane early on Christmas day, not knowing that a few weeks later I was going to change life directions almost completely, into the unknown, yet somehow with complete conviction...
I spent a few weeks in the Himalayas and ignited a fire that would take my life in a different direction, knowing that I would return to Singapore, quit my job and then set out to travel.

Three years later I'm still on the road without an end point clearly in mind...

Travelling back to Australia, on to New Zealand, I then moved on to South America, travelling north until leaving Colombia for winter in Italy... I lived for some time in Italy, the Netherlands and Poland, moving, working, travelling, experiencing and enjoying this life that I'm lucky enough to live. I explored the Balkan countries before bidding farewell to Europe, off to spend an extended time in Nepal and India... where to next, my list only gets longer... !

I'm a traveler, an explorer, a lover of the outdoors and languages, people and cultures. I follow my instinct and try to live in the present so that I can do so with the highest chance of success haha. Constantly curious - this tends to get me into hot water and takes me to the most amazing places with equal ratio.

PHILOSOPHY

Life can be taken seriously and also not seriously at all. All of our experiences boil down to figuring out how that works personally, but in reality there's so much to be grateful for. We can all choose to be happy and peaceful no matter what has been thrown our way, our world is made up of people & environments telling us what to do, how to think and how to feel but it all starts and ends with individual law, and your own inner peace.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

The best thing about couchsurfing - the concept and the mindset. Allowing ourselves to open up to others and ask each other and the world for what we need, no more and no less. Participating in couchsurfing, participating in life :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Unofficially I have had the privilege to spend time buoyed by the kindness of others; floors, chairs, couches, beds (I can sleep anywhere). Through CS, I have stayed with couch hosts all over Europe; as I am currently travelling, I have not yet hosted anyone, however once I next settle down somewhere for a little longer, this will definitely change :)

Interests

I love the independence of solo travel and the discovery of different lives, I take the experience slowly, soaking everything up as much as I can. Discovering different cultures and people, countries, languages and traditions by experiencing them in every way, seeing, hearing, feeling and just being.
I love a good party, a good conversation with a random stranger or friend, I love seeing what the world has to offer - especially through mountains, the ocean, forests, lakes, rivers, glaciers, volcanoes... Camping, hiking, skiing, diving, I am happiest when active.
I try to appreciate everything as much as possible, and consider everything always in light of the fact that we are all lucky to be on this earth living the lives that we do. I am interested in living a life with no regrets, and to the fullest possible. I do, in fact, love penguins, and the odd polar bear :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music and will listen to anything! (Almost!)
Watching movies usually involves too much of sitting in one spot for me haha, but I'll usually be carrying at least 3-4 books of different varieties... and open for more! (masochist)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Amazing sunsets over mountain landscapes while hiking in Nepal with people who started out strangers, and became family over 2 weeks together. Witness to incredible things; ancient ruins in South East Asia to public lynchings in Bolivia, tribal medicine ceremonies in the Peruvian jungle, drifting down the Amazon river... drug busts in Colombia, incredible kindness from strangers while on a mountain pilgrimage in Japan, just everyday things in everyday places - it's all amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am becoming an expert at preparing vegetables in a million ways ;)
I can teach you to ski
I can teach you Japanese or help you learn English
I can teach you to hike with an overpacked backpack (haha!)
I would like to learn everything and anything I can, and share anything and everything we can :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good company and simple but honest cooking. Most likely wine will be involved :)
