About Me

I'm a Masters student in Indigenous Studies and my undergraduate degree is in History and French. When I'm not in school, chances are I'm traveling! Growing up in a small town in Canada meant that I spent a lot of time dreaming of visiting big cities like New York, Paris, and London. Now that I'm older and have been away from home for a while, I appreciate the qualities a small town can have, but am still eager to see the rest of the world! I'm also an only child so I'm fairly independent and have no problems traveling and sightseeing on my own (though company is always welcomed).
I love finding free things to do in the places I'm visiting, but I also love splurging on things I enjoy (mostly macarons, mmm!).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined Couchsurfing a couple years ago but hadn't decided to give it a try until recently. I'm quite shy but really am excited to meet new people! Especially locals of the area I am visiting who can point me away from the typical tourist traps (though I sometimes love tourist traps).
And to share stories, ideas, languages, and cultures along the way!

the outdoors, reading (though it is hard to find the time), photography, musicals, binge watching television shows, eating desserts , drinking wine, drinking coffee, visiting museums, travel, travel, travel, breakfast for supper, pancakes,

Music, Movies, and Books

All music, as long as I can sing along or play an air violin with it! The Lion King is one of the greatest movies of all time. Anything with Julie Andrews is a gift to the world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Studied in France during my second year of university and visited over 20 countries in the same year, survived a three week trip in confined spaces with my mother (who is amazing), eating dessert for breakfast and supper more times than I can count, taking a Sound of Music tour in Austria, hiking a mountain in Switzerland, accidentally taking the most challenging path up to Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh, finding a $1 bus ticket from DC to NYC.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a firm believer in learning from experience and learning from the experiences of others, so I love to share stories and listen to them as well!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I think I'm a good cook until I try to prepare something for a guest, and then I realize I don't know how to cook. However, I am a pretty good baker! And I'm pretty good at buying late night desserts and bringing them home to share (that's a skill, right?). I can also count to 5 in my father's native Aboriginal language, Cree (yes, only to 5). I can count much higher in French.
