Overview
About Me
I am just your average Aussie working to pay the bills. But it’s nice to hear about the world via different people I may happen to meet. I wish you all safe travels :)
The below description of me was written by my first accidental couch surfers who also showed me the benefits of being a host, we had a good time learning from each other. Sorry i am going to keep it as there were very good memories., they ended up staying with me for about a week, good times!!
I am just a funny Aussie and a gorgeous marmaid in one Person! (This was
written by Richard and Laura my first couch surfers. The mermaid comment is because I sit on my patio lounge with a mermaid tail blanket, cos it was winter when they visited I think it got down to about 9 degrees bloody cold) . But I am basically a Townsville girl, love my town and the place where I live (they liked to describe my place as a slice of heaven). I must add that I do like to eat meat..it's good for you!! ( I have added this comment as I have recently hosted vegans disguised as vegetarian, but we still had some good tucker and fun)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have just recently have been introduced to couchsurfing by my partner who already has a lot of good memories and continuing communication. I think it is good for us old farts that can't afford to travel to meet with those of you
that can. You tell us about the world you have travelled and we tell you about what's around here for you to see. Good exchange I think!
Interests
- dancing
- cooking
- relaxing
- meeting people
Music, Movies, and Books
Nickelback, Pink, air supply, meatloaf, Shaun Mendez, Ricky Martin, phil Collins Yada yada. I have an eclectic taste in music but I don't like instrumentals and definitely can't stand Barry white used to like Charlie pride but he is in my list of someone I'd prefer not to listen to.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I raised two children that are gainfully employed in occupations they enjoy. One is a nurse and one is a sparky!
Teach, Learn, Share
- the love for my town (e.g. The Strand, Paluma)
- how to cook food (only if you are unsure, I am definitely not going to tell someone how to tell someone how to suck eggs)
Grew up with the Chinese culture of extended families and how you always stick by your elders.
Treat everyone with respect and they will respect you back.
What I Can Share with Hosts
As I can’t afford to travel, I am sorry I can’t share anything with a host. But if I could someday afford to travel, it would be to share the love of my culture (in Australia it is a multicultural society). I was brought up with Aussie and Cantonese culture where the elders are respected and looked after but also made to feel valuable. Very important in my upbringing.
Countries I’ve Visited
New Zealand
