About Me

ABOUT ME

Most people say I'm friendly, easy-going, free-spirited. My best friends say I always have good ideas for where to go and have a good time. My boyfriend thinks I'm kind, funny and a good cook.

Interests

I'm a travel writer by day and a science writer by night (and a fiction writer by whenever-I-sit-the-hell-down-and-actually-do-it), so I spend a lot of time traveling, reading about neuroscience and consuming great literature. I also dance contemporary modern semi-professionally and know a lot about the NYC dance scene. I used to work in bars and do some food writing, so I am pretty knowledgeable about the bar/restaurant scene here as well. In my spare time (haha, what's that?) I run long-distance and do triathlons and I go to a lot of house and indie rock concerts. And I am just now starting to get into diving, which is really exciting.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The first was taking my parents, who had never been out of the country before, on a vacation to Santorini in Greece. I had been working as a travel writer for about three years and I got the opportunity to take them with me on an assignment. The island is so impossibly beautiful to begin with, and my parents were so awestruck by the hotel and the view and the experience that my mom started crying and said she never thought she'd see such a thing as long as she lived. It was possibly the best moment of my life.

The second would probably be driving to the top of Mauna Kea on the Big Island in Hawaii. It's a rapid ascent from sea level. The temperature drops and you go through something like 5 different climate zones on your way up, while also getting a little lightheaded from the quick altitude change. I imagine it was a combination of the natural beauty and the lightheadedness, but I was giddy with the excitement of going up there and looking at lava fields full of cactuses and snow at the same time. It was an amazing experience.
