Music, Movies, and Books
Books books books... don't have much to say except that out of my 5 shelves, 3 of them are occupied by stacks of my collection of books, half of which are still back home :)
An overview on some of my favourites:
Le petit Prince - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
Harry Potter books series
Molière: Le bourgeois gentilhomme, le malade imaginaire, femmes savantes...
Racine: Andromaque
JRR Tolkien
Baudelaire: les fleurs du mal
Gibran Khalil Gibran
Albert Camus
Dan Brown
Now to a concise list of the movies that have often left me in a state of frenzy and contemplation afterwards:
The Grand Budapest Hotel
The Fantastic Mr. Fox
Le destin fabuleux d'Amélie Poulain
Moonrise Kingdom
The Lord of the rings
Juno
The perks of being a wall flower
The best exotic marigold hotel
Il y a longtemps que je t'aime
Les intouchables
Volver
Babel
Lemony Snicket: A series of unfortunate events
Spirited away
Fantasia
In the seventh art I seek substance and something for the brain to munch on but it depends on my mood after all for I rejoice in childhood treasures ( Disney aka the Holy Grail)
as much as in Documentaries on the history of roman viaducts' architecture.
Some favourite directors:
Nadine Labaki
Xavier Dolan
Wes Anderson
And Quentin Tarantino is just a given really :)
I am big on ancient music/classical music and play a bit of Cello and Piano myself however I do not restrict myself to one genre and listen to whatever I feel like from my cherry picked eclectic playlist: Radiohead, Massive Attack, Pink Floyd, Alt-J, Arctic Monkeys, the Kooks, Coldplay, Charles Aznavour, Evora Cesaria, Nina Simone, Madona, Dalida, Robbie Williams, Imany, Florence and the machine, Of Monsters and Men, Lana Del Rey and Beyonce (drops a solo from "Drunk in Love") and the list goes on :).. in addition to whatever you might suggest I am open to anything (except death metal as I treasure my eardrums) I often relate music to situations, people and places and that would be the best souvenir any person could give me before parting with me !
