Overview
About Me
I am on a new journey of my life (previously a cook and diesel mechanic) looking for something I believe would be worth investing my time and energy into. I'll be arriving in Auckland the 8th of November, 2024 and so my first stay would probably be somewhere near the city so that I can get all the government/bank/drivers license things out of the way.
Part of finding my purpose keeps bringing me back to nature/and possibly farmland so my intention with my 2 years in New Zealand are going to be
1) Trying new things - not going back to the everyday grind I know
2) I signed up with WOOFing is to enjoy a more complete experience and have more access to knowledge than someone who would just come pick vegetables for a summer.
I preferably would like to be in a place that is rejuvenating land, with permaculture, and be tutored by someone who has experience and knowledge in the following things
- Permaculture (specifically planning/care-taking/systems)
- Water (drainage, sources, testing, capture, tables, transport)
- Compost (making your own, brews & teas)
- Soil (specifically health/micro-organisms)
- Vegetable/Flower Gardening (complimentary plants, ways to grow for better yields/or easier harvests)
- And any sort of DIY which can include building, cooking (baking - fermentation- transformation of foods), cheese-making, cleaning products/soaps etc
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Honestly, I'm just keeping my options open. Between WOOFing, possibly buying a camper, and here I think it would be enough to have options. I probably won't be staying in one area for more than a couple months (unless employed there for seasonal work). Otherwise I would be more open to travelling and seeing more of New Zealand :)
